Not eating at all

Ello peepz

I'm having quite a problem with eating anything. I'm quite a big guy and I used to sport alot, so I've always eaten quite alot. Lately however it seems all my appetite has disappeared completely. It's abnormal; I weigh 98 kilo's (not fat, but muscled, so I really need to eat well or else every muscle I worked for so hard will disappear in no time) and the last couple weeks all I eat is one tiny sandwich a day. It's stressing me out cause I'm really passionate about my body and sports. My stomach is flipping on me daily and I can't do sh!t about it. When I try to eat, I already feel full after one or two bites. I went to the docter and he said the only solution is to force myself to eat, but that's easier said than done. Anyone had the same problem? It's really driving me crazy.

Tonight I went out with friends and I couldn't drink one bit of alcohol because my stomach was completely empty. I tried to eat something but I almost vomitted.

Now that even the doctor can't help me I'm putting all my hope on SRF's knowledge :(

I use to be like this as a kid I hated eating and I didn't know why. What my mom would do is she would start off with light foods. She started off with milkshakes and things like that and then slowly progressed to harder foods.
I of course only ate sweet foods so she had to add a bit of sugar for me to comply.

So what you should do is start off with liquids. If you can keep it down you HAVE to force it down. Your body will need the nutrition. I also recommend you take Multi Vitamin pills to get the daily recommened nutrients.

Is your urine/Feces regular color consistency btw?

How old are you?

Have you been working out recently? You might want to ask your doctor about an appetite stimulator. Did you get any blood work done?

i had this last week, happened cause i stressed to shit and literally ate nothing all week, but as soon as i stopped being stressed i gained my hunger back. Idk if you are stressed or not but that might have something to do with it. Anyway i say drink a lot that helped me and maybe eat yogurt if you like it.

you might need some vitamin C and eat lots of salad, fruits and drink a lot of water (not coke)

Haven't really payed attention to my urine, but it's normal I think cause else I would have noticed it. I also don't hate eating, I love it. That's what makes it strange. And it came totally unexpected. One day I woke up and couldn't eat sh!t anymore. Since then it's only gotten worse. I'm really afraid my body and stomach will get used to it (having this problem for 3 weeks now) which will make it only harder to return to my previous appetite.

I'm 20 years old. Yes I still try to work out everyday, but it's getting tougher and tougher because I can feel my body is totally exhausted and is in need of nutrition. Also my muscles are hurting as hell after training, I'm almost totally immobilized after I train.

Haven't done any bloodwork yet. My doctor also didn't prepose it, so I don't know if it would help me in any way.

@ cpinney

I almost never experience stress. I was feeling great. I took this year off from school so I'm basically only chilling and training and from time to time doing a bit of work. I was healthy, happy and active until this problem occured.

if you've been eating that little for such an extended amount of time, then yes, I agree you need to get some work done. your body will think you are starving and will burn all your muscles :/

I also recommend the blood work too then. You did say this happened suddenly one day. Can you remember if anything unusual happened that day? What type of foods do you normally eat? This information can be of use to your doctor.

You mentioned you almost vomited from the food. If this keeps up and you are unable to keep food down, I would like to suggest that you reduce/stop the working out to conserve energy for now and go to the doctor. If he refuses to do anything, find a new doctor. If you mention you have been unable to keep any food down due to nausea, a competent doctor should give you a steroid shot to help reduce the nausea. It goes in the butt, but it should help reduce the nausea so you can get some food down. If you were truly without any type of stress and the onset was sudden, it is a bit fishy imo.

Try to figure out if you have done anything that may have caused this over the last couple of weeks, if this persists visit your doctor again with a more serious tone.

I from time to time lose my appetite as well but I then eat anyways to keep the nutrients coming. I don't think I've experienced any serious stomach problems when I lost my appetite in the past so sadly I don't have any real suggestions for you = /.

Also get your junk tested, could be result of STD you whore.

I know I brought it stupid but it's true.

Lately I've been able to survive on solely coffee and cigarettes a day. Then they force me to eat and I throw up.
Got my appointment set for coming Wednesday, about damn time after 2 years of sleeping around.

Loss of appetite can be caused by numerous things. In most cases, it's an idiopathic etiology which most professionals would simply blame on stress. However, feeling nausea after eating a tiny meal is evident of numerous possible diseases. I'm not going to pretend to know more than your physician but certain things such as tumor growth in the stomach is possible. You can consult another physician for a second opinion and hint that you may need to have some diagnostic tests done for these diseases such as a Barium swallow (just make sure your insurance covers it - it can get pretty costly).

However, in most likelihood, he/she will probably just prescribe an antidepressant or Megestrol to enhance your appetite.

mehh, after reading some posts I'm getting a little scared :( really don't hope this is something serious.

i really don't believe it's due the stress. like I said, i don't have anything that could stress me. not even going to school this year. and when this problem occured I wasn't experiencing any stress at all.

I will make an appointment with the doctor first thing tomorrow morning. I'll ask him to do a bloodtest and to get my stomach examined at the hospital.

I wouldn't mention the "I want my stomach examined now" just tell him about your condition and history. Some doctors are out to make money. They will do whatever you want just to make you feel re-assured regardless of whether you need it or not. Especially when they know your insurance will cover it.

@Braingeyser and everyone actually.

Sorry, I meant antihistimine drugs. Not steroid drugs >_>. Dam late night sleep-typing. The one I've seen used a lot for nausea is phenergan. Right into the butt cheeks. That should help with the nausea. Like I was saying last night, if you really can't hold down food for over a week, you need help. Phenergan should help you get some food down at least until the source of the problem is determined.

We have different health care system, doctors don't order shit just to make money. Most practices are not private, and doctors receive the same pay regardless of how many expensive treatments they manage to take on.

OT: You may have 'de ziekte van Pfeiffer'. Emphasis on you may have. I'm no doctor, but your story sounds familiar with loss of appetite and no energy.

Wouter is right, I'm insured for all medical costs, so that's no problem. Also I have quite a good doctor and he always helped me well.

I also thought about Pfeiffer, but I don't have the other symptons like being tired all the day, headaches and fever. But hopefully the bloodtest will make some things clear.

The fear is natural.

I shat blood a few times and then I read something about Colonic Cancer and now I'm afraid as **** I have it too.

I had unsafe sex a few times and now my new boyfriend finally got me as far as to finally take that damn STD test, and he keeps talking about how easy it is to get STD's. For all I know I've already catch'd them all.
I'm happy they can tell me if I have aids or not within 15 minutes, but I'm also afraid as **** as to what the result is.
And I think I won't be very happy when I receive the text that tells me if I have something...

But maybe I'm lucky and 100% safe :D

You straighties can get it too you know.

I know you'd rather eat a EggMcMuffin than a woman's muffin, but don't think they're that safe either.
