What would you consider

What would you consider a nerd to be? or geek.

For some reason there isn't really a set line at least with the people I talk to.

I mean I have gotten my A+ certificate (just a comptia certificate to say you know how to work on computers) I tend to thirst for knowledge a lot of times. I made a dedicated computer just for server uses/ learning networking/ virtual networking. But I also do slightly have a social life. I have been in a relationship for over a year and I do go out on the weekends. Have a job (working with computers even though sense they made a cut no so much anymore) and so on.

Would you consider me a nerd/geek?

But yea what do you think makes a nerd/geek?

nerd isn't a negative word. it actually means that you're very smart and often are very capable with the computer. the way it's being seen as something bad nowadays is because people often associate the word nerd with persons who don't have a social life.

Nerd, jock, geek or a prep, does it really matter in the end? If you appreciate people for who they are individually you'll soon find yourself not needing to categorise people in such a way. You are who you are and that's about all that matters.

And that answers the question........how?

Anyway I've heard the term used interchangeably. If you google it people think they are the same, or one is x and the other is y, or the opposite =\

The whole nerd thing kind of ends after HS. Even when you're in HS, there's nothing cool about being stupid and not knowing your shit. Although being an awkward antisocial weirdo is a different category altogether.

Anti-intellectualism plagues High School hallways.

Considering that almost everyone now spends a lot of time with computers, I don't think someone is a nerd for doing so. A nerd to me is someone that revokes his social life for said computers/video games.

Agreed.

I spend alot of my free time on my computer, but I also practice sports and have a pretty cool social life.

Why the sudden need to put yourself in a category? As Mirosuke said, you are you, a social being that has a thirst for knowledge. Just wondering.

Doesnt matter as long as you are socially capable.

Nerds round here are those that leave their room for lectures and thats it. You wont see them anywhere else. Even the "nerds" at my hall dont even go into the kitchen (at least not when theres someone else in there).

hmm some1 like me?

wears spectacles, attends all his lectures, loves to play games, may decide not to go to a mall or other places with friends so I can play games/attend a lecture/just lie down and read a book.

Not to say i don't go out, I just sometimes feel a bit out of the group even when I'm with them.

However, I spend very little of my time actually studying on my own so I guess I can't be a geek huh?
