Do you think "he" is brilliant ? My answer is far from it, very little intellectual admiration for him here but I'll let others give their opinions why one way or the other.
Catching up on the show, currently on season 5 and if I was to point out one thing that amuses me about the show it would be be his social interactions, not the non existing make believe genius.

Yes, I love how he knows everyone's motives, reasoning and can judge a person accurately.

Yes.
But the problem with all of these "geniuses" that always figure out the problem at the end of the show is that they make every episode predictable. So House lost its jist after like the 4th season.
I really hate the idea of a "genius" in shows now. For example Bones, from Bones, shes a MASTER of anthropology at the young age of 29. Not only that but she has pHD and is fluent in 3 languages!
DERP.
CSI Miami- The CSI's do EVERYTHING. From collecting evidence to asking the witnesses question. They will ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS find something. It could be a hair that fell from your pubes all the way in china which managed to hitch hike its way on a seagull all the way to the USA and was dropped on a villain which you happened to have killed.
Also, why the hell is Horatio ALWAYS the first one at the scene of the crime even if cop cars are shown INFRONT of his car during the chase. Do the cops let the CSI's enter homes all the time or are they eating donuts and hoping that no one shoots him?

I like the show. Yes, it is predictable that he almost always solves all the cases but I already watch it with that in mind. The stories of the patients still keeps me interested, as well as the overarching storyline (even though it really isn't that novel).
Oh, and House himself. I love the character.

I've only watched the first 2..or 3 seasons. I like the show, the cases really interest me, but I've always been really interested in medical science & the like. And I have to agree with Prophet Izaach, sure it's predictable that he's almost always going to solve it, but I don't think I've ever sat there while watching and thought "Damnit, he's going to solve it again? I'm so disappointed!"
As for House being 'brilliant', yes, though I still wish sometimes he wouldn't be such a jerk. xP

All these medical/crime scene genius mystery solvers are based off of sherlock holmes, especially House. But yeah, fun show to watch.
