Okay, so 3 days ago, i got booked for not wearing a helmet on my bike, me being 15 and not having a license, so, i was riding down my street, and spotted a police officer, looked him in the eye, decided to stop, and put my helmet on, so i rode onto the footpath, and i forgot to mention, i was riding the wrong way down a One Way Street, So he came down to me, said hey, You're a $&!@ head, he said this "right, you broke 3 felony's back there, Number 1, the big one, riding with no helmet, I am only going to book you for that one fine, BUT there are 2 more lessons to learn, You should NOT ride down a one way street the wrong way" and here comes the stupid one "You are not allowed to ride on the foot path, unless you are 12 or under" I would like to say on behalf of Australia, that is a crock of $#!@ and it cost me a good hard $150

They almost passed a law in New Jersey that forced bikers to pay $10 to put a licence plate on their bike...so dumb
But in NYC there are so many bikers that the cops just dont care like people dont ride with helmets, brakes, etc

Most one way streets are both ways for cyclists here. I can understand why you're not allowed on the footpath, just that 12 and under bs is kinda weird. Also the fact you gotta wear a helmet is just wtf xD

You have to use a helmet when you're 15 years or younger in Sweden too, the other two sounds ridicilous though.

why is it so stupid bike>human you can imagine how much damage it can do if you crash into someone
we have similar laws but they are very very loose so not really enforced but id hardly call it stupid its in the best interest of pedestrians

Getting ticket for not wearing helmet and riding on walk path is pretty obvious for me so I don't get what's the big deal.

Most of the times you got your hands free to make sure you won't smack your head on the concrete >.< Unless you don't see a branch coming and go way to fast... Biggest thing I'm worried about on a bike are my balls.

Well we're a bike country so there are usually seperate lanes for bikes here ^^ Except out of town where 80km/h is max and you just cycle on the road...pretty sick seeing how most people drive 90/100 or even higher there lol

But there's always a risk of something going wrong. No?

Of course you shouldn't be biking on a footpath the wrong way on a one way street.
Where do you go if pedestrians are on the footpath? On to the street where traffic is coming at you?
No helmet? Your own fault.
These are pretty much law in Canada as well but much more loosely enforced.

Helmet law is for when bike vs car. That's when it becomes most useful.
Going on a pedestrian side in a 1-way road is also dumb. Like other posts already stated, if ppl came down you'd be fcked. Either mow ppl down or get mowed down by a car.
Having a licence for biking is just another way to tax ppl.

I get them being laws, but felonies? That's either
A. Untrue
B. Untrue
C. Ridiculous
D. A & B
Basically, I'm going to pick D. This is because in the U.S. a felony involves imprisonment for more than one year, Idk how law vocabulary works in Australia, but a felony is a HUGE deal.

Cops are cunts. But technically, you were breaking the law. Though most cops would have told you to get off your bike and walk it, instead of straight up giving you a $150 fine.
Which state was this, by the way?

just in Victoria,
and everyone Misunderstood, You DO NOT need a license for a bike, i was talking about not having a license for a car!
and yes, i understand, it was my fault, but i just found it ridiculous that they can pull you up for riding on the footpath if your over 13..
