So i have a mazda protoge kinda like this one :

i recently got it from my dad but its been in the family 3-4 years idk
and recently it started gettin a loud screeching sound when ever i turn on the heater and idk what it is :/ and ive never checked the oil or anything. Any tips on what i should start out with and check?

Its probs something to do with the heater? As in.. dont bother checking the oil or stuff like that. Well actually do.. you should regularly check your oil and crap.

Maybe something got stuck in a fan or something?

Heater specifically, or just whenever you turn on the fan itself? How about when you turn on the AC? Heaters on most cars in the "defrost" setting also engage the AC clutch, so that might be a possibility too.

Probably a fan bearing going bad or something stuck in the vent system. Leaves can make weird noises.

im afraid to do it myself so im going to take it in to napa or something
