Having a problem here with pc

Post by Dayan »

Alright so my lil bro bought a pc from HP like a year ago with vista on it. Now it is having issues with blue screen of death , that just destroys windows vista to a point that it wont even load no more. And if we do factory system restore it will work but a day later it will just crash again with blue screen of death and just die again.

So it became kinda hopeless doing factory default over and over and over again. So i came to a conclusion.

I wanted to delete everything in the hardrive including the vista partition. To have anempty partition and install windows xp professional which i have here in a disk from retail.

I though maybe doing the above would fix issues ups. So i came to a little problem. I put the XP pro disk in the drive. Made the pc boot from the cd-drive first and than harddrive as second option.

So the xp configuration pops up. Ask me if I wanted to install a fresh windows xp. And i clicked ENTER ( as yes ) than ask me to press F8 ( to agree the agreements ) after that as many of you should know the partition window should come up showing you your partitions if you wish to delete it or install windows in that partition.

Well that section does not come up for me, instead after i agree to their agreements the next section i get is " No windows was found to be installed in this computer , please put a windows cd in the disk drive to see if this computer can handle windows before installing , but the disk is already inside the drive and yet nothing happesn even if i press enter ) this section comes up even though windows vista is installed with tis own recovery partition.

I cant seem to find a way to delete the partition since i cant even enter the crashed windows vista. Cant find a way to even install xp instead,

So i was hoping one of you guys would have an idea or tips or something on this prioblem.

Download a live CD (.iso) for ubuntu. It includes a program called GParted that can do all that partitioning stuff.

You can probably find a less bulky linux version that has GParted or another program, I just know ubuntu has it.

did the BSOD say anything specific? It could be bad hardware or bad drivers.

Yeah use a linux livecd, like the gparted live cd, and use gparted to wipe the hard drive and try again. I would guess maybe the hard drive is dying/dead if it isn't detected

Have you dusted the thing out? could be overheating. corrupted drivers/ bad hard drive. see if you can get windows check disk going and a memory test.

I've done everything. From dusting/cleaning to changing graphic cards, from doing factory default millions of times. The blue screen of death does not let me read anything, it just restarts the pc in like a second after poping out. I cant really do anything. I will try something else though. Imma see if i can get a cheap hard drive instead of completely removing everything that comes with this hard drive. To see if that new HDD works or not.

Well this is what I get in the BSOFD

- I get this a lot ( dont know which hardware is failing though. I previously installed a graphic card. But it was working fine before. Plus Even before I installed that card this kept on coming out. )

stop error 0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x81412650, 0xE20000FF, 0x88010400)

- Sometimes I also get. No idea what to do either.

stop error 0x0000009E

If you keep getting BSOD, even after reformating it's most likely hardware.

On all HPs, graphics card is highly suspect. You mentioned you changed it, so I guess it's not.

It might be memory. The most common hardware non-hp related BSOD, for me, has been memory.

But, I also have heard of, and experienced, BSODs due to audio drivers on windows Vista.

Following google, it seems that 0x00000124 is HD related. I would trouble shoot that after checking ram.

The problem isn't in windows, the problem is "HP pc".
