Disc Broke

Ok, so I'm playing some Black Ops wager matches, I'm on a loading screen, and I hear this weird noise from my xbox, a sort of "cracking."
Thinking nothing of it, I weight for the match to load, it never does. I take out my disc, put it back in, load up a match, no luck. So I try to download it to the harddrive, says the disc cannot be read. I take it out, examine it, and there is a HUGE radial scratch circumscribing the disc, it's completely ruined. I got the game 3 days ago, and it broke for no reason. What should I do with the disc? Talk to microsoft, or target (where I bought it), or what?

I'm just going to say one thing:
-you're fucked.
-I wouldn't bother w/ microsoft [they don't care.]

Don't worry, bring it to Blockbuster. They have that machine that repairs the CD for 3$. That's how I repaired my friends MW2.

Same happened to my brothers COD, the xbox "ate" the disc.
He had to buy a new one.
I've always said xbox was a shitty console, ps3 FTW!

We tried that, game would load up but textures were messed up so game was unplayable.
I guess its still worth a try anyway.

The ring scratch doesn't come off. It's burnt through the protective coating and you can't get them off. I have tried many times (I work at a movie rental place).

CallofDuty.com wrote:The disc is covered by a limited warranty that covers only manufacturing damage. However, you can obtain a new disc as a paid replacement. The fee is usually $20. Please contact Activision's Customer Support department to begin the replacement process.

if you still have the receipt ur safe, go to target and look for a dumb person who "looks" like they know the xbox issue, and just say you got it like this, they'll replace it, i had to do that cuz my cousin knocked over my 360 at thanksgiving last year and ruined my modern warefare 2, but it was a free replacement 8)

Yes that is because you said your disk had a crack in it and didn't mention anything like OP's situation. But yo that's tough to understand, spinning and circumscribing oh my

Yup the scratch is still there, but the game works. (that all I cared about at that point).

Xbox isn't a shitty console...You just prefer the ps3 so lets just pretend you said that.

I'm sure there is some kind of proces for this or something, cuz there were more people with this problem o.O

xbox must be the only system ever to have so many technical problems yet it still the most sold/active system (not including wii)-_-

With a fail rate at release of one in two at launch. The console was rushed with many hardware issues. Terrible.. I wouldn't say so on itself. If my console just suddenly went poof on me within a couple years.. why would I buy another? My PS3 is 10 years old and it still works aside from the disc read error issue, but easily fixable. Hell my Nintendo still works.

As for op I'm jw.. is it the new 360 console? Did you move you it? Also I suggest you to buy your games with warranty when you buy them. That couple dollars will come in handy.

Since when did they start selling warranty with games? Maybe consoles/TV/Microwaves/etc but I don't think anyone ever offered me a warranty with any games ='(

Really oO

EB Games/Gamestop always offered me 2$ for a warranty. The guy would say that if I threw the disk at the wall and it stopped working I could just bring it back and get another. Not sure how long the warranty lasted though. I think they called it a game-guarantee.

I don't know when, but it's common now. They'll usually ask you when you buy a game from anywhere. Even walmart asks if I want warranty.

I remember when all you had to do was blow in the game cartridge to get it to work. :|
I also remember that I could practically play baseball using my N64 and it would still work.

You usually have a 7-30 day exchange policy with games, so if you still have your receipt you should be fine.
