id downgrade processor and upgrade something else with the saving personally

not sure about the motherboard iv got a m4a78 pro or sumit like that its fine and dandy for a basic system but dont allow much expanding in the way of overclocking not sure about that one as its a lot more advance then mine but there are plenty good mid range cards around

gfx card is fine could upgrade to 465 with the saving from the processor if you downgrade

really thats just a sound computer for your money i like the amd route that will future proof your system a bit longer as amd dont replace sockets anywhere near as fast as intel so you can keep it in date

psu try the antec truepower 650w less wattage sure but its a good psu

Downgrade CPU to Athlon x4, Downgrade PSU to 550W, Downgrade GPU to GTS 450. unless you need to play on a bigger screen then 19in it should be fine. because it is a friends computer don't worry about the CPU. getting the most fps isn't that big of an issue?

EDIT: Or a Phenom x3/2 for the same price.

to some point i agree but even as a secondary computer you want it to last so dont downgrade the psu rest go for it, just get a am3 mobo should last a while

its actually a rather cheap am3 mobo, only $100, but has a 1600 ddr3 support

GPU's are getting more and more power efficient. The new 6870 recommends a 500W PSU and it performs between a 5850 and 5870. 550W should be plenty as long as you don't plan to SLI or XFire you're fine.

The CPU won't get old any time soon many people still use a Dual core. Even if it does the AM3 Socket is relatively new.

good ideas, i should of thrown out my reasons why i wanted these

cpu - wanted it so bottlenecking the gpu down the road would be tough
ram - cheap and fast
mobo - cheap and has all i need in it
hdd - cheap, size, and decent speed
psu - decent value with a decent wattage cap for later expansion
video card - cheap, powerful, dx11
case - cheap, nice looking, and fits everything

CPU the athlon x4 does just fine Besides most games are going to be optimized for quad cores soon so yay cheap quad cores. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews ... _620/8.htm If you get the Athlon at 3.2Ghz it will handle games just fine.

I am running a 620 (2.6Ghz stock) it currently is running at 3.2Ghz and I run all games perfectly fine. I am even running a 9800GTX+ and maxing everything with good frame rates. (crysis is an exception)

Unless you're planning to run a 1920x1080 inch screen you don't need top of the line.

Do you really need that?
Just take xmoshes advice. Unles you have friends over every other day there's really no point in buying it...
