hey guys, i need some help here.

i want to go for a visit to Europe (exactly, Norway).

So my question would be: What do i need?

I am RESIDENT of U.S. (not citizen, i guess they are not the same).
Currently living in Hawaii. Afaik, i need to go to a Norwegian Embassy to apply for a Visa to the country, is that right? i'm pretty lost :(
I heard Citizen of US? can go to Europe for max 3 months just with their currently Visa...(Schengen Agreement)

Since you are going to Norway, you would Require a Schengen Visa. This not only allows you to enter Norway, but any of the other 24 Schengen countries.

If your passport is from one of These countries

You do require a Schengen.

And yes, most likely it would be done via the Embassy/Consulate or in certain cases and locations, there is even Via processing centers.

And it does say that if you hold a Valid US passport, then you do not need a Visa, but you must have a Valid passport for at least 90 days after entering the Country.

Gah, thanks for the reply but still a little bit lost.
My passport is one of the country that requires a Schengen Visa. So, that has nothing to do with my residence in the U.S. like my green card. (like if that ever would help me?) i guess?

So pretty much, i'll need to apply for a Visa if i ever wanted go to Europe? e_e
So i guess, by here (http://goscandinavia.about.com/od/visad ... sainfo.htm) it's pretty much saying Citizen of U.S. :(

Because living here doesn't mean i am one of them. lol

i hope it doesn't take that long...

Yeah,

Being a Resident and a Citizen are different things, and if you don't hold an American Passport, then you will need to get a VISA.

So what i would do, is start by Contacting the Norwegian Embassy in the States Official Norwegian Embassy/Consulate site to the US

Cuz, if im not mistaken, in some cases a Schengen VISAs need to be applied for in person.. N of course depending on which Passport you hold and such, it normally takes like 3 - 15 business days to process a VISA

Same with American passports.

It took me a while to get my passport the first time... then when I got it, it had the wrong DOB on it, so had to postpone my trip for another 2 weeks to get it fixed ><'

Heya Key-J,

No, still saving up money and haven't started the Visa thingy ):
At least, I can apply for it through mail. I hope it works.

Special Schengen Visa instructions for the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco:

The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco accepts visa applications by mail, but only from residents living in any of the Consulate General’s states of jurisdiction: Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii.
If applying by mail, note that the applicant’s signature on the visa application form itself must be notarized by a Notary Public, and a notarized copy of your U.S. Permanent Resident card (if applicable) must also be submitted. All other documents must be original.

So yeah, if everything goes good... I'm doing my trip soon, as long I finish with this college semester and save enough money. If I ever need more help, I will ask here.

And you said about 4 passports? Where you been? :0

Those are the countries i can think right off the top of my head, but being a Colombian Citizen i required a Visa for pretty much all the places up there.

Norway is a nice place. The cities not so much, but the northernmost coastal areas are great. Not like the stinking, filthy, big cities of mainland Europe. No stressed people mindlessly hurrying from a meaningless task to another, or wandering among piles of worthless goods to find something cheap and insignificant to satisfy some imaginary needs.

Oh, and the water in fjeld lakes is most clear and refreshing...

+ it's in the middle of f*cking nowhere :sohappy: it's nice for older people to relax at those places. but I figure if you're still young, why not visit the big cities? you know, you can have crazy times there especially in Amsterdam :sohappy:
