Well I have an interview for work placement which may lead into a permanent position, so my wish is that it goes well for me and I don't act like a fool during the interview. And then the usual peace to all, happy care free holidays, lots of presents for my niece & nephew etc etc.

(That's basically a part of the list of shit I'm buying for myself over the next 2 years or so. I kinda feel bad whenever someone buys something expensive for me. I'd rather get something nice enough to be a good gift but cheap enough to be economical for the giver.)

Odds are if your just sitting around, waiting, for a change. It won't happen. You've got to work on it.

This fact in itself should be your motivation. For such a drastic and dramatic change to occur, you can't rely upon external factors to spark it. As much as I hate to admit it, I've learned the hard way that you can't let others change who you are just to make them happy.
