Meh, never liked trick plays like this. If there actually was a problem with the ball what would they say when someone on defense destroys the runner faking it?
@key j he acted like he was walking to the ref because there was an issue with the ball, or something along those lines.

Not me either, but if someone acts like that on any other game, i'll just watch. You gotta react fast.

notice the offensive line didn't move either. nobody moved or crossed the line, so no offsides or false starts. Acted like a valid snap, so I'm guessing it's allowed.

Yea it's allowed. It's like kicking another guy in the balls when you're fighting - you just don't do that.

It's not a legal play, assuming NFHS (National Federation) rules are used:
In response to the famous "wrong ball" play a few years ago, the NFHS has ruled that :
"Football has been and always will be a game of deception and trickery involving multiple shifts, unusual formations and creative plays. However, actions or verbiage designed to confuse the defense into believing there is problem and a snap isn't imminent is beyond the scope of sportsmanship and is illegal."
15 yard penalty.
