I quit over a year ago after 14 years, I will never smoke another cig in my life. Worst habit ever.

Not the brightest idea to start. But it's really up to you. Been smoking/quitting for the past decade. If you're going to smoke, just make sure you understand the risks - don't bullshit yourself thinking it won't cause you harm in the long run.

It started as a social thing for me when I was young and later progressed to something that I just do.

fucks you up! takes around 10 years from your age. waste your money. if your planning on having a gf she wont even try kissing you !. knew 4 people in my family died from smoking.. lung problems and blood cancer. people look mad retarded when they smoke. except if you mean weed every one in a while with your friends wont hurt

No, the very same things apply to weed. If you are going to be going around amusing yourself with lousy habits at least own up to it.

i think its stupid but im not gonna enforce my beliefs on anyone. So if they want to get lung cancer or something whateve

Gotta' agree with Love here. "People look mad retarded" except if it's weed? Looks like you have a lot of growing up to do, Za. In most cases, you're talking about adults who made their own decisions based on their beliefs; high school kids "puffing" smoke from their cheeks look funny and sad at the same time though. Then again, it's the internet where adults are given the chance to act stupid.

all i meant.. once every year we used to smoke some weed with friends and joke and shit.. i didn't mean in a regular base

I'm trying to quit smoking at the moment. I've managed to go nearly two weeks without. Mind you, I do still spin my weed out with a cigarette, but for every $30 of weed I use only 1 cigarette.

stupid and most defiantly won't date someone who smokes. bad breath and smoke smell everywhere they go. gives me headaches too so whatever.

currently the person i'm dating started smoking because they were stressed. thought it would be helpful (loled). so far they are 3 months clean yay

Personally, I don't smoke. I dislike the taste and smell so it doesn't appeal to me, not to mention the health aspects involved. Although I do know a lot of chain smokers and respect that everyone has their right to an opinion. If someone wishes to smoke than it doesn't bother me, it's their lungs after all.

Definitely a bad habit. Its especially stupid when teens do it to look cool in front of their peers.

Typically, I tend to think that smoking is rather idiotic. Not all smoking mind you. I have no problem with an occasional smoke, like once a week, or to celebrate a special occasion.

Having said that, I actually do smoke. Granted, it's only the 100% pure tobacco without any of the addictive additives in it and what not cigs, and this is only done about once a week. I started smoking about 6ish months ago. In total, I think I've smoked about 1 pack, maybe a little more, Which I think is decent, and I never smoke alone, only with my best friend and/or brother.

I pity chain smokers. It's such an expensive way to die young.

I've went through so many "Warning" about cigarettes during my childhood, there's probably no way I'd start smoking. We've (my "generation") been told so many times the bad effects of smoking(at school), it would be almost plain stupidity to smoke.

then the generation must be full of idiots because there are plenty of smokers. there are so many smokers at my college it's disgusting. whenever I move from class to class almost everyone has a cigarette in their hand.

(not sure what generation is yours but mine was also told the same so yea..... plenty of idiots)

Back in high school I did it when I was 17 just because it felt like the cool, badass thing to do. Then I turned 18, realized it's overrated, and stopped. Actually my whole smoking lifetime lasted about a month.

As a bit of a twist to the original question, to those who want to quit/already quit smoking, would you take up the habit again if there were no health consequences? And to those who choose not to smoke, same question applies.

I wouldn't myself, but it would be interesting to see some opinions on this if anyone wants to contribute. The majority of anti-smoking advertisement I see focuses on the health aspects, as opposed to financial and image consequences [it can be viewed badly, prior to contrary belief], so it would nice to see if this attitude is accurately reflected.

It's such a turn-off on girls too. If I have a convo with a girl and I learn she smokes, I can guarantee you she'll notice the reaction on my face.

One must be physically fit to handle the biological strain and insult from cigarette smoking. Surviving years without physical impairment or sequelae is a testament to their superior physical state or genetic makeup.

Hmm to be honest I love smoking, normally don't smoke around friends unless they're smokers though. I'd smoke weekends on and off from 17-18 then started smoking quite a lot once I hit 19ish. But now after around 5 months of regular smoking I'm quitting. Don't really care about health issues but hearing "Nobody likes kissing an ashtray" after having made out with a lovely girl a few times I'm thinking it's not worth it hahah.
