anyplace in america can legally refuse sale for any reason period. which is why i never understood the major uprising in the gay cupcake fiasco. despite it being impolite to give such reason, it was still legal.

As I was saying cell i was just talking about mcdonalds i don't know about anywhere else, i figure that it was company policy not a law.

I thought under federal law it is illegal to refuse legal tender.

a penny is like 1/100th of a dollar, right?

God I'm glad we got rid of the 1 and 2 cents coins in the NL within 2 years after the Euro. Then you go on vacation somewhere else in the EU and boom, waller full of those little fuckers.

Supermarkets don't even give it back anymore, they round it off to 5s.

Anyways, it really sucks getting all those things.
When I was in Berlin we did pull the same shit. We had coffee in this little place somewhere back, all working in something like a Restaurant, McD's, snackbar or something else.
When we left, we just had a biiiig pile of coins we just wanted to get rid off, so we threw it all on the table, even tipped the bitch.
Then we wanted to walk away, she shouting in dutch the wants paper and shit but we just started running.

*Sigh* Good times.

The reason people don't like pennies are because
1.) its alot of god damn pennies

2.)Some people don't want to seem *poor* because they use it in public

True,

Just did a little research, and yeah No Business or company or wtvr in the US can reject Legal US tender as a form of payment, if it adheres to their own private regulations, as long as the state city where they are in doesnt have a law which over rides that.

So,

If i pay at a gas station for 20 bucks of gas, they Cannot refuse a 20 dollar bill. Even if it's old, and pretty worn out, it's against federal law for them to refuse this bill, which is still considered legal tender.

However, if i tried to pay for the 20bucks with $100 or pennies, as long as there is some sort of documentation regulation of their refusal to accept certain payments.

However, if the city/state says that they must accept all forms of payment (which some do) then they can't refuse payments in pennies or $100 however, they can request that the pennies not be loose, and be rolled.

I personally think counting pennies are more annoying more than anything else. Sure with a couple pennies it's not a big deal but if someone pays in 100s of pennies.. You best be crazy.

CLE ELUM, Wash. — A businessman who tried to pay a property tax bill with 33,000 pennies
got turned down by a county treasurer in Washington state, who said she didn't have the staff to count them.

Ron Spears told the Ellensburg Daily Record he rolled buckets of the coins into the Kittitas County treasurer's office Tuesday to protest the fines he incurred by failing to pay a $34 bill that was due in April.

Spears owns Spears Interiors in Cle Elum and also serves on the city council. He says his business is struggling and he didn't have the money at the time.

When Treasurer Deanna Panattoni refused to accept the pennies, Spears agreed to pay the $3

A fair while ago I had a big collection of coins in my room, around $200, that I had collected from any change I had got during the past months. I put all my change in a money jar I own, I hate carrying it around in my wallet. One day I needed to fuel up and I felt like being a bit of a jerk, so I got all the smallest coins (5, 10, 20 and 50c pieces), filled up a whole tank of fuel in my old car ($70 worth) and paid using an ice cream bucket filled with those coins. The petrol store owner was looking at me with a look that said "You've got to be Farking kidding me". He told me to go to the bank, get it cashed then come back. I said it's illegal to refuse cash as a form of payment for goods and that if I go to the bank, I'm sure as all hell not coming back. He sat there for 5 minutes counting it all while I giggled in the corner with a giant trollface expression. It was awesome.
