Ipod classic

Ok. So I worked a shit ton of over time for a different department at my office. In doing so I was awarded to choose from like, 12 different things on a list of stuff. I chose an ipod classic 160gig. Im not super familiar with ipod shit (or anything apple for that matter). I messed with someone elses ipod before trying to put music on it for them. Im not to fond of the itunes software. Can anyone suggest alternative software to use? And are there any tips or tricks to take full advantage of my ipod? The latter may require a pm over a reply post.

whats wrong with using itunes just for your ipod music you know any music you put onto your pc can be done in either aac, mp3 or some other formats so they are compatible with other software for when your just using your computer for your music
non the less whats wrong with itunes iv never had a problem with it i quite like how all my music is neatly displayed in one large playlist or i can easily create seperate playlists using the smart playlist function

i had a very had time understanding you, but i gathered a response based on what i did understand:
dont worry about what do or dont dislike. i just dislike it and dont want to use it, i clearly indicated that in the OP.
also, anyone that can indicate what cases are the best (best access to the button thingy and best protection id appreciate it.

I think you're gonna have to tough it out, iTunes isn't that bad, even if you have a previous music library, it will find all the music.

10 minutes?! That's pretty long, it takes me less a lot less than that.
@Cell, don't worry about it, you'll get used to it. At first I didn't like iTunes, but eventually it will grow on you.

I used to use winamp, there was a plugin for it; it worked well.
But, I slowly starting using itunes and I use it now. For music it's not the optimal option, albeit a good one, but if you buy applications/movies/tv shows/music it's great.

Itunes lags the hell out of my PC so I use Sharepod for my Ipod Touch
It is fast and very simple to use.
I recommend it.

Cuz of all the bad stories, duhh.
People are cheap, don't like to pay for their songs.
+ what squirt said, lags the hell out of most pc's laptops, at least the people I know that use it.

I can't stand itunes and the stupid shit it does, but I end up using it anyway because I'm too lazy to set something else up. I can't even make it monitor a folder so when I add music it's automatically added to the itunes library. If I can they make it pretty god damn hard to find.
=(
If you start using a different program please share how it goes.

For me personally, I dislike it because of:
-DRM
-Updates
-Installs shit I don't want, and did not ask for
-It's an Apple product. Think "user-friendly".
Here's a list of more issues with it.
As for what I used to replace it: I didn't. That's all I'll say. There are other ways to use NO software to get stuff on your iTouch.

lastly drm is only on song you download from the store but you have 5 computers you can use it on and if you use all 5 you can request more or reset them
so these issues aint issues unless you make them a problem i meant real problems
read the link agree with some of it infact some of it made me laugh thanks thats all i wanted i stil have no prob with itunes but least get why others do a bit better now
since when im stil using itunes 9 i choose not to update lol

it reminds me to much of aol in the way that it seems to try to take over everything. its big and bulky and im just very used to having an mp3 player that i open like an hd, drag my shit to. close it and disconnect. not, connect, start program, make sure its sync'd, convert this, do you want to update this, you should buy this.

Itunes DRM stinks, ask around about the 5 computer limit, would you?
I have many computers in my house. However, only my GF's and my PC have Itunes on them. A while back she attempted to get something downloaded/purchased but it indicated that we had used all 5 authorizations. Granted, her PC had been reimaged, but prior to doing so I had released/deauthorized that PC. After reimaging it, reinstalling itunes and sync'ing all over again, we suddenly had used 5 licenses. How did that happen? Well, there are 2 other networked laptops that we use infrequently. However, they don't have itunes on them! Where'd the other authorizations go - from 3 to 5? Sorry, that's an Apple problem, not my issue.
What about users who have multiple pc's > 5? Maybe they should run a cloud. Oh, Apple was going to try that, then the labels bitched about licensing, so now Google beat them to streaming music without a computer.
Anyway, the software isn't horrible, but it's had years to mature and Apple moved way too slowly to convince me to use itunes anymore on my PC. If I need music I get it directly from the itouch via the store.
