The state of Chihuahua has borne the brunt of spiraling drug-related violence that has left around 28,000 dead throughout Mexico in the last four years. Guadalupe's former mayor was assassinated in June, and local police have been kidnapped and murdered. At least eight people were slain in the last week alone in Guadalupe, news.com.au reported.
The tiny but energetic Valles Garcia says she wants her 13 officers to practice a special brand of community policing. She plans to hire more women — she currently has three — and assign each to a neighborhood to talk with families, promote civic values and detect potential crimes before they happen.
"My people are out there going door to door, looking for criminals, and (in homes) where there are none, trying to teach values to the families," she said before she was presented to the public on Wednesday.

Sadly, yes. It's highly possible especially since the media's focused on her right now. It might be a good way to send a message for the drug cartel. But who knows, maybe the media attention might work in her favor. Despite all the criticisms and the recklessness of her actions, I still admire her.

She definitely has more balls than I do but if anything the article states is true, especially the crime statistics, such a brave stance is nothing more than a bad decision.
If I really want to be optimistic, I have to just say good luck.

Saw this yesterday I was really surprised Mexico lost 28000 in the war on drug cartels very surprising, but this girls got some guts.

I wonder what the pay is I mean there must be some alliterative motive to her stupidity bravery other than the "for my people" malarkey. Also at the risk of sounding like a misogynist I don't see how hiring anymore women will do good--I get it "girl power, whoo-woop-woop!" and all that jazz-- I don't think those poor women will be enough. I'm assuming they're just women from the village and not trained in any exclusive way.
Anyway I digress best of luck to the kid. Hopefully her head doesn't end up on a platter.

I don't know if she is brave or just naive....I'm guessing the latter..due to her age...and the fact that she just placed her entire family on someone's hit list...Or she's was placed there by the cartel themselves as someone already pointed out...which would not make her brave nor naive but just a puppet...

This. I was thinking that she probably has some family members in some cartel so she took over as chief to help them out, not that they need the help there are only two police patrolling at any time.
