But it could and did happen to Bibiana Steinhaus -- if only because she's a female referee, and if Berlin player Peter Niemeyer had brushed a male one in that general area, he wouldn't be dying of embarrassment right now.

It was an otherwise very uneventful match: Hertha Berlin and Alemannia Aachen finished up with a nil-nil draw. That didn't stop Niemeyer inadvertently trying to score elsewhere on the pitch, however (apologies for the pun, we couldn't resist).

Reaching to pat Steinhaus on the side of her arm, it seems that she had moved further away that he had thought.

Cue one excruciatingly awkward moment as both realise that Niemeyer had just groped the woman holding the red and yellow cards.

While Niemeyer moves away to curl into a ball of all-consuming embarrassment, Steinhaus laughs it off -- as does the commentator, whose hyena-like yakking might make you want to turn off the sound in the clip below.

And it was her first televised match as referee... now what's the right card for this kind of behaviour?
