I just stumbled across this article and wanted to share it

But he confidently stated in the letter that the Bible proved the world would end in 2060, adding: "It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner."

What really interests me about "end of the world" predictions is why we make them to begin with. Sure, the image of our own untimely death is a harsh thought indeed, but does knowing the exact date of our demise make it any easier? Or does knowing that we won't be the only one's dying make it more appealing? Or is it the lack of control over our own fate that draws so much interest to the whole concept? Maybe knowing the end is nigh motivates us to get off our buts and achieve those dreams. Maybe I'm just completely wrong.

My life, or even the world so to speak, will end when it's ready. When my body has had enough, it will transcend this world and I will rest. Will that be today? Tomorrow? 80 years from now? Who knows. I'll just keep on living like I live and when it comes, it comes. End of the world predictions won't make my life any easier, so why even bother predicting?
