Have any of you guys ever gone hunting?
I've always wanted to hunt using melée weapons, it a weapon that i can make by hand , like a spear/ bow.
Survivor man makes it look easy =|

A bow is not a melee weapon...
I've been hunting... never went without a gun or a bow though.

Lol at bow melee weapon.
But I see what you're saying.
What's the fun in hunting? Yay I get to kill animals for no reason? Possibly leaving cubs/puppies/whatever offspring your dead game has alone and defenseless?
Sounds great

Omg you couldn't be more of a stereotypical lib...
Hunting isn't pointless. You eat what you kill.

I've always wanted to go out in the woods with some flint and a sword. So, I could make a shelter and start a fire, while possiblely stranded on a island.
But given the chance, I might not because theres scary shiz out there.

??? To the first. Caring about animals isn't equal to politics, but w/e floats your boat.
And if you weren't aware, MANY people hunt for the sake of recreation.

Wasn't talking about political stance. Just your ideology in general.
People may hunt for recreation, but they don't throw away the meat. My uncle gives his extra to the local homeless shelter after he's taken it to the butcher.
Squirt, if you thought a bow was a melee weapon... I wouldn't go out in the forget and try to hunter by yourself anytime soon.

Let me cross-apply this argument.
You guys both say this with an affirmation as if everyone does what you do.
@bot- not everyone kills the offspring
@Fiction - not everyone (not even close) donates the meat to homeless shelters.
Don't argue from just your perspective, argue from the concept of leaving cubs orphaned etc.

lols, strong ignorance. There are hunting seasons for a reason. They are scheduled around months when offspring are old enough to care for themselves. Deer season begins soon here, all fawns from this year, born during the summer (98%+), will be old enough to fend for themselves if their mother is killed. Same applies to most hunting seasons.
Limits are also placed on the number you are allowed to harvest to keep populations in check. In the county I hunt, you are allowed 1 buck, and 3 doe. They must be tagged with a stub from your hunting license. Get caught with an illegal animal, say goodbye to your weapons and hello to an empty wallet.
Yes, there is an element of excitement, 'recreation'. Harvesting an animal is not as easy as you would think, and having successful done so does give you a sense of accomplishment and excitement.
Yada yada etc etc. You get the idea.
OP, yes I hunt every year. I try to stock my freezer during the winter so that I can enjoy wild game year round.

I hunt deer with a compound bow 90% of the time. A .270 the rest. Ducks and dove with a semi-auto 20gauge. I have caught fish with my hands before though... is that considered melee hunting/fishing?
EDIT: Inb4shitstorm

Lol no I meant melée weapons along with weapons that I can make by hand like a spear / bow which doesn't require gun powder. Just stuff you can power by hand.

Play ZSZC SRO as a blader, or glavier if you want melee combat, that way you probably won't get hurt.

Sound reasonable.
Still doesn't address the argument against recreation? You just say it's fun, and still leaves possibility of orphaning animals, does it not?

lol Might wanna check the rules. You can't just go out and kill whatever the **** you want, and you can't go and do it whenever you want. So I don't know what the hell this orphan stuff you're talkin about. Damn you must live in a blessed world. There are people here that don't rely on a grocery store to provide everything for them. They grow the fruits and vegetables, they raise the livestock, and they hunt.

On secondhand. I know a great way to hunt for deer.
You know those deer signs?
I would use a bow and hide in the bushes or trees and when I see one, kill it. But idk when deer season is over here..
BTW, can you sotp quoting quotes

^^ Fiction.
You guys are on computers, I assume that's not your situation.
Also, I'm not saying you do it on purpose or whatever, just I don't know why. Isn't there a sympathy factor?

Of course I don't live off the land. I never claimed to, but I didn't grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth either.

Of course there is the possibility of orphaning an animal. The system isn't perfect, but what system is? You don't want to see the alternative to no hunting seasons, trust me. Hunting, believe it or not, keeps animal populations in check. Without hunting they would overpopulate their habitat. We are most animals only predator and it is our job to manage them. Have you ever been to a city that doesn't allow hunting? Deer overrun and wreck havoc.
Another example, duck population are extremely healthy and THRIVING because of the conservation efforts of hunters.
The positives of hunting FAR outweigh the few negatives.

Never went hunting before, but i have killed bird w/ slingshots or fake-ish guns (don't have real bullets) when i was younger.

maybe you should stop eating any kind of meat then, because one way or another, the meat was hunted...

EvGa is right on the money. I think when McLov has to drive 20 mph on every road at night, because if you don't you'll have a deer through your windshield, he'll change his mind real fast.
I'm sorry for you Mc, if you lose sleep every night over the orphaned animals, but that's just how the world works. You'd be better off having a bleeding heart for the human beings that have to live with out parents because some deer wanted to jump in front if their car

I don't think you have to hunt cows or pigs or chicken these days

Sorry for dpost, missed this.
I understand this, but why make this a recreational activity. It should be left to professionals who do it for the sake of the animals rather than to let loose on some anger or adrenaline.

I enjoy hunting myself, get my licenses renewed each year, I have a longbow, compound bow, and a crossbow, I also have a few hunting knives with a 12 gauge shotgun (rifles here are illegal -_-) and a pistol. I usually hunt deer, rabbit, groundhog, bird, and bear (I hunt bears in Alaska though)
