yes, read the talk pages if you're skeptical of something/want to be sure there isn't an edit war going on

The unreliability of wiki is GREATLY exaggerated. People act like everything on there is wrong.. I use it still whenever I need info. Never am I disappointed or skeptical that the info is wrong.

Download the audiobook and spend an hour going to bed later and waking up an hour early listening to it. If you need more time or need to get it done quicker, you can listen to it while doing menial tasks.

yes any major topic is usually pretty reliable until you start searching really odd or topics that are really out there. The people who run the show on wikipedia are full of shit though, so ignore them.

Yeah, there was this global warming or environmentalist guy that worked for wiki that went crazy with making up shit and editing other peoples stuff to make his crazy theories sound true. I can't remember his name atm. That's probably the worst case of Wiki making stuff up that I've heard of

I was told something by one of my Tafe teachers one day. He was introducing us into a new referencing system and said a bit of a plug about Wikipedia; "Look, if you want to acquire a bunch of information real quick than Wikipedia is the place to go. 99 times out of 100 it will be completely accurate. But if you are idiotic enough to put it in your references, I will mark you down for it".

So I've always complied by that theory. Use it for the initial gathering of information, then cross reference specific parts with relevant reference links. Refer to Azilius's post if you need to completely spelled out for you.
