Is it still illegal

Why are laws so anal to the smallest details? I know that detectives can sometime use a technicality to hold a perp for a while.

But I wonder, if there is a couple and they are both 17, they've had sex dozens of times. What would happen if one of the couple turns 18 and they have sex. Could that person legally e coined a pedo?

laws aren't that strict

in fact alot of laws are so open to interpretation that while with one officer you could get away with it and with another you could be getting charged.

It depends in what state and consent from parents or something. I'm not too familiar with it, but if parents is fine then nothing can be done.

This 15 year old girl was charged with distribution of child porn or something to that effect for sending her boyfriend, also 15, naked pictures of herself. Boyfriend was charged with possession, I forget the state. :soosad:

Yeah I've heard about that. The laws make no sense and I remember a similar case that the boyfriend was mad(oh what happens next?) he sent nude pictures of her(she was like 16 or 17 I dont remember) and blah blah blah hes listed as a sex offender til hes like 30. Just.. wat.

This specific thing you are referring to depends. 17 it doesn't really matter that much in some states cause you can be tried as an adult at 17, so if you were dating when you were both 16 it would be a greater benefit to you. However to be safe, if you are both 17, wait till you are both 18 to resume your sexual desires. It usually also depends greatly on the parents of the 17 year old. I hate the law anymore. It's suppose to exist to punish criminal who intend to do wrong.. but what it does it picks up on the smallest technicalities to put away good people that didn't mean to do wrong or didn't know they were doing wrong until they were "caught". All the make police look good. For instance, I know someone that took a girl home when he was drunk and she had an ID that said she was 18.. She turned out to be 14 using her sisters ID and he got 7 years in prison.. How farked is that? She got off scott free like she was an innocent victim that got raped. **** the law. Morales have nothing to do with it anymore.

^That's what really pisses me off. If the club is (for example) 21 or older and they got in.. no one should be at fault, but her. Since she is underage the blame should be pointed at her parents for being too retarded to know where she was at. Nope. Parents find out later some bullshit ez money.

In all cases, it's the girl that is innocent. And some people even thought that in the case I explained, that she did it on purpose to get him in trouble. And all he did, was touch her boob.. 7 years instantly. It was some age related place that she had to be 18, but he was drunk and idk all the details. But it still pisses me off that the law is based solely on how it is written with no room for debate unless it's to find loopholes in the text. Guilty people go free due to it, and innocent people get locked up. Even when the Judge knows 100% that it's the wrong call, he has to make his decision based on what events took place no matter who is at fault. It's pretty dam ridiculous. Boy this all reminds me of Con Air.

If referring to age of consent in the U.S then it's 16~18 y/o, most common is 16 years, second is 18, the least common is 17.

A classmate of mine (18 years old) only got a warning when he was caught having sex with his 15 year old cousin. He later did it again and was caught and went to prison.

I believe the world averages out to 16. Interesting thing is that some countries have different ages of consent for different sexes. Like in Indonesia, if you're a girl it's 16, if you're a guy it's 19.

No idea about the rules about that here, but as long as you don't completely **** up you won't get in any problems. The only persons who know you had sex was you and the bitch, and she probably won't go to the police anyway.
Oh and I don't think they would even make a problem between a 16 & 18 yo here.

Its 16 in SC but theres a 3 year rule. If the girl is 16 and the guy is 20 even if its consensual the guy can be charged with rape cause he's over 3 years older

But if she tells her parents or if they find out in any way and decide to press charges against you, you will be a convicted sex offender for the rest of your life :palm:

I doubt anyone would take it seriusly, atleast I doubt anything would happen where I live, ive only heard of cases in the US and well, their court/law system is f'ed up anyway.

kids develop differently so the line is very flimsy,
the clearest way apart from an age line would be to sign consent forms for the act beforehand.

Yup I forgot about that, that rule also applies in almost every other place in the US where consent age is 16. That is why It's always referred to as "make sure she's 18" not 16.
