Apple Fails, yet again to appeal to real consumers.

So once again we see that Apple is really only concerned with being considered a status symbol in the world. They released their new 12 core Mac Pro today, complete with a 5k$ pricetag, baseline. If you know much about computers you'll know that gernerally in most processes beyond that of a server running copious WMWare Workstations, the processor is RARELY the bottleneck to your pc's effectivness. The exception being gaming, but if youre gaming, its more than likely NOT going to be on a mac. In addition, Apple is offering a shitty Radeon HD video card, INSTEAD of the better nvidia.
Essentially, apple continues to show that there really are few differences in Mac's and PC's nowadays. Minus the asthetics of your OS, corporate viability, and oh yes: The retarted pricing.

Shitty Radeon? Nvidia is a lot worse then Ati, they price their Farking things wayy higher then ATI and usually are just on par with it.
For example the best ATI and Nvidia cards out atm the 5870 and the 480. the 480 is only marginally better then the 5870, beats it by just 5-15%, but the price tag is about $150 more then the ATI. It also uses up a crazy high amount of voltage.
But OnT: Yes I agree that mac is overpriced. But it is a brand name now so everything from apple is expected to be overpriced at this point.

This is not about intel vs ati, its clearly apple bashing. No home user would ever need a mac like this, its clearly for studio editing, so $5,000 is nothing. That being said, i hate apple and i wish they would burn.....

Overall I think 4 gig RAM, about 320/500 gb is good enough for normal use. I3 processor would suffice as well i5 would add some speed though.
@Mirosuke, the difference is mainly in the cost vs performance. ATI is more budget friendly with the same performance while nvidia costs more.

Best ATI card is actually the 5970.

Nvidia was the leading in Graphics for a long time.. and they are still up there with Ati. Nvidia still has the worlds best Graphics GPU available.

People like to shit on nVidia these days because they all read that their new line isn't much of an improvement.
Haters gonna hate, I guess.
I'd rather pay for nVidia and get semi-decent driver support, than deal with the clusterfuck ATI had going on, and has had going on for the last 8 years.

I've never once had problems with Nvidia. ATI has more voltage -> performance than Nvidia. And what I mean by that is ATI would on average require a 500 PSU when Nvidia would only need a 400 PSU
My brother had a radeon 2 years back and it left a big ass line across his monitor and made the screen grainy.

im a nvidia fan i damn near bought one on release but fact been bar the 460 the other cards are not what they where expect to be, fermi gen 2 will likly be extremly powerful which is where nvidia will come back but right now on the full fat version of the chip its too power hungry and your money is far better spent on ati

Nvidia's driver support is just as crappy as ATI. I had a driver problem with nvidia where I actually had to re-format and reinstall my windows 3 times and still didn't fix it. I tried to get help for 3 months and they provided nothing.

Sounds like a pc problem to me as opposed to an Nvidia driver problem...
Nvidia is much farther ahead in OpenCl support (ironically first developed by Apple), and is much more energy efficient in terms of heat and amount of power supply it uses. Beyond random personal experiences, i believe Nvidia will have better, more reliable, and efficient technology in the future.
More pointedly though, who needs a vid card with 12 cores? lol just donate 3 to gpu and youre good to go.
