So I'm told that Avatar - The last airbender is complete fail. Now I don't normally put to much stock in to what Rotten tomatoes says, but, it's only got an 8% rating on there. Is it really THAT bad?

even if statistics are only statistics, 8% positive rating is a pretty good indicator of how bad the movie is..
most of my friends who saw it say it was gay.

Just a few things I hated about the movie:
Fail attempt at humor. Aang wasn't as playful. Sokka wasn't funny at all. Bad actors and actresses in general. Horrible casting. Butchered pronunciations. Fast paced (they had to resort to narration - alot) Missing a good amount of important characters. Anticlimactic. Fire Lord Ozai did not look like a BAMF (in fact, they only showed his face in the show at the last season). Uncle Iroh wasn't jolly. General Zhao looked like the f*cking Fire Lord, and like him, did not look menacing. The martial arts were retarded and seemed off with the bending. It takes 10 earthbenders to move one goddamn rock. Worse than Eclipse. There were actually audiences in the theater who applauded after. Azula looked shitty. The trailer made it seem like that big wave is gonna wreak havoc on the ships. <insert yellowface comment here> Fire Lord's throne was a joke. 3D, like every live action 3D after Cameron's Avatar, was shitty.
And the worst part: You know. that when they make a shitload of money, there's going to be two more movies.
TL;DR: M. Night f*cked it up in every possible way.

I was told if you don't watch the cartoon, which I'm sure most of you do, then it's an alright movie.

I highly doubt that even a quarter of the critics who said it was shitty have even seen the first season. It's sitting at 9% on RT. Whoever said it's alright is an idiot. You're better off watching Dragonball Evolution.

i was told that if you didn't watch the cartoon then you'll have zero attachment to any of the characters thanks to the unrealistic dialogue and poor writing. The effects suck. And the 3D is pointless and only serves to make everything darker than it already is...

whats with the rotten tomatoes hate...it compiles ratings from other sites and even gives you the benefit of shifting between general ratings and reputable ratings...if you're looking at it as a be all end all then thats kinda stupid because it never reviews anything itself but if you're looking at it to see how the movie was received overall by critics its a great tool...

You guys are fail.
You just dont like the movie because you all want a full copy of the cartoon. its not a copy, they gave the movie a new twist.
It was alright.

There is a difference between a full copy, a decent re-write, and something that just sucks in general.

He wants you to believe that he is farking sheet up but in reality he has created a super genius masterpiece that only he can appreciate. I enjoyed the movie granted I was not sober and looking at Aangs shiny bald American Asian wanna be head made me laugh

No. It is accepted that movie adaptions will lose something in the transition, but when the story changes, the characters' appearance/behavior change, and the mechanics of bending changes... it is very disappointing. There is no twist, it's a completely different story that just happens to have characters with the same name. For a better example, refer to dragonball evolution.

I enjoyed the movie and I have seen all the cartoon episodes. The only thing that was annoying was Aang was know as "Uung" and Sakka was know as Sokka. They got all the other names right in the movie haha so why would you mess up does two?

uhm.. It IS Sokka..
not Sekka, Sukka, Sikka or Sakka.
It's Sokka. Just like in the cartoon.

it sucked quite badly..the director is a big failure.
the writing sucked, acting sucked, direction sucked....the only semi-good parts were the action parts...
don't know why the avatar franchise owners agreed to this travesty.

god....it was so bad
they need to remake this, cuz the last airbender is such a good concept
i mean, bending the elements? this is completely something worth remaking and remade well
i can't believe they let shamylan direct this, ugh
and the script writer needs to be blacklisted. it's like george lucas 2.0
