For those who work out

Not trying to be an internet jock, but I need some information :sohappy:
Its not one of those- I want to be fit threads, but a total different concept.
Okay, so heres an explaination to what im asking.

So I already workout at school; Squat, Bench, Clean, Leg Press, and the basic workouts. Since school ends in 1.5 weeks for me, I have to go to my local gym more often, cause the school's weight room will be closed. Now, my local gym dosent really have that kind of setup as schools do, because the school's weight room is more sport based; where local gyms ( not like L.A Fitness, but smaller ) have more machines and stuff that work on seperate muscles.

So my question is; If I were to use the machines in substitute for the most of basic workouts listed above ( gurantee I will work on all of those, but not as much cause there is hardly enough equipment there )would it still benefit the muscles I used for the basic exercises? I could list you some machine names later on but I cant remember them off the bat.

Anyone with experince, knowledge or anything that can contribute to help me, do post.

thanks

A pair of dumbbells and a bench is all you really need, I'll let the figuring out up to you.

Yea with these I dont even have to go to gym very often. I prefer home exercises.

Do certain muscles on certain days, do abs everyday. Do a plenty of cardio also. If your still worried, just add extra weight to everything you do. Then you should be fine :)

Compound exercises are the best, but when limited to isolation exercises / machines they will work ok.

Surely they have dumbbells? You can do a lot of the major compound exercises with dumbbells.

Benchpress - inclined, declined, close, wide..whatever... dumbbells
Shoulder presses - dumbbells
Modified Squats - dumbbells (leg press machine is ok.. but real squats are superior)
Rows (for your back) - dumbbells
Pullups / chinups

Plus, you can get a lot more done in a shorter amount of time with compound exercises.

Yeah they have dumbbells, so IC what you guys are saying;

The compound exercises ( couldnt find this word in my head to use it in the first post ) are really better than the individual machines because they tend to work out more muscles, than just one or two; generally less time consuming.

But the machine works the muscles the same way the compound bar ones, right? Just some work on primarily one area.

Use electric machines that exercise your muscles give the same effect. Technology FTW

I'm not 100% sure.

But your gonna want some dumbbells to work out with rather than just all machines. From what I've been told machines are mostly for toning your muscles not as much building them like free weights are. Mind you I've been only working out for year and a half so I may not be completely correct. Just figured I'd throw it out there.

also, start out not to low and not to hi on weights, DO AS MANY REPS AS U CAN WITH PERFECT FORMATION, formation is key to getting exercise and muscle building, then gradually build up with 2(1/2)+ on each side or +2-5 for hand weights.

Muscle memory would slap your face, just saying.
