Ok now i know some of you were expecting to see an actaul edible car, but thats not what this thread is for. This thread is for helping me come up with a design to make an edible car for my physics project.

These are the rules:

1. The car must be made of items that are completely edible by humans. (Coconut shells are not edible, orange peels are edible.) There is one exception to this rule--you may use four toothpicks or two wood shiskebab skewers as the axles of your vehicle.

2. The car may not exceed the following dimensions: 20 cm (wide) x 30 cm (long) x 30 cm (tall).

3. The car must have 4 distinct wheels ( not a double wheel on a single axle).

4. Any adhesive that you use must also be edible.

5. Each car will be assigned an Edible Car Challenge (ECC) score as follows:

ECC= net displacement from bottom of ramp / mass of car in kg.

Strategy: To win the ECC score challenge, which is school wide, you need to make a well-built, lightweight car that goes far. To win the distance challenge, for bragging rights in your class, you need to remember what gives an object the most momentum.

Ok so thats the rules on the paper my teacher gave. So far I havent really came up with any good ideas as to what I will make the wheels out of, and what the main body of the car will be.

I want to try to win the competition thing so please help me come up with realistic designs which u think might travel the furthest

*EDIT* also forgot to mention it starts off with the car on the top of a slight ramp, and we will be doing this in a school hallway. Dunno if the school hallway detail makes any diff, just throwing it in there

I totally had to do this too last year!!!! Well until my physics teacher was canned for inappropriately looking / touching the girls.... Anywho, I used Oreo's for the wheels and I totally forgot what I used for the body but if I remember I'll inform you. Lol. A banana perhaps?

Edit: Yea pretty much what you have so far is what I had.... If I used a banana.

lol its for bragging rights man.. I dont really care if I win or not honestly. Just would like to give it a try though. I thought it would be interesting to see what u guys could come up with.

Chassi- Pop tarts
Axle - Pocky sticks
Wheels - Froot loops or Oreos
ADhesive - frosting

ahh..squirt u think u could come up with a graphic to go along with it ? Always more fun to see an image along with your design.

hahaha the banana design is just for laughs. hmm I think the pop tarts is a good idea. They are flat so thats less air resistance to drag it. It should travel further with that. What if I just take some butter and just grease up the wheels so it slides along lol.

Lol paint images always crack me up. and squirt.. man the jap chick in ur sig is so dam cute. I could stare at that all day.

Chassis needs too have a decent enough mass and weight.

haha i googled edible car designs and found a banana car on this page:

yam yam stick also used for axle( better tatsing and flavors ), and chocolate or marsh mellow may be used as a glue, but marshmellow tatses better

You can also craft the gram cracker for a better design for aerodynamics :>

Go buy a gingerbread house kit. Cut the walls into body pieces for your car and use the frosting to hold it together.

bigger wheels =better.

You could use those mini cheese wheels for wheels, you know the one with a red bull I think on it.

OMG i remember when i did things like this in elementary school :3 great times lol

If you really want to win:

Pop Tart for body
Shape pound cake for aerodynamic body
Pretzel + strong chocolate frosting to secure stuff.
Butter Poxy for axels
Buttered Oreo for wheels.

If It's a roll downhill race, adding mass will benefit you. Might consider adding edible wax for the shape of the body. Not sure which is heavier. Can prob get the body to be more dense as wax though.
