Jake Gyllenhaal, great-great grandson of the above mentioned Anders Leonard Gyllenhaal, joked to an interviewer, in connection with the British première of the movie Prince of Persia in May 2010, that his last name was pronounced "Yil-en-hoo-luh-hay", poking fun of Swedish pronunciation.

And since people don't believe it when I say something Swedish is motherfucking Swedish, here's someone else explaining how to pronounce it.

Difficulties with the pronounciation of "Gyllenhaal" are however not new. In the Scandinavian languages a double "aa" as in Gyllenhaal, has for centuries usually been pronounced with a sound as an "o" as in the English word "for". In this case, however, it is in Sweden to be pronounced with a long "a" as in the English word "far"; the double "aa" as the "ah" in the alternative "Gyllenhahl" (se above) only indicate a long wovel "a". - - The second problem for English-speaking is how to pronounce the prefix "Gyllen", i.e. Golden. The family branch in USA has solved it with pronouncing it "Jill-EN-hall" - - But in Sweden the letter "y" is pronounced similarly to the German wovel "ü". The letter "ü" is accomplished when you sound the letter "i" as "e" in "feeling" and then pouting your lips, still sounding.

I guess im wrong then. i Based it on the haal in his name. There are not many names that have 2 a's in the Swedish language.
