Has to do with how the slopes are angled, you can see it when he turns it sideways that the ramps arnt in a cross pattern.
Atleast thats my take on how it works.

The ramps are all angled downwards to the middle. The pillars holding them are very, very angled outwards to make it look like all the ramps are angled upwards.
Cool optical illusion.
