my chem teacher told me that depending on what level of liberal you are at teenager will determine how far right you will go at middle age. So moderate liberal -> super right and far left -> moderate republican, etc.
I guess theres some truth to that.

I used to consider myself rather conservative and I was even a donating member. But then I realized... in this particular order:

- Abortion is a choice
- Centralized governments are potentially more effective
- Religious institutions corrupt
- Sexual preference is personal, and requires less bending-over-backwards than accommodating the religious
- Healthcare is a universal right

I guess it's part of growing older. And although I consider myself socially liberal, I would never vote for the centre-left parties of Canada.

Wikipedia says the party I vote for in the Netherlands is "conservative-liberal". I guess conservative is a bit of a joke term in the Netherlands compared to other countries. Conservative or not, almost all parties support gay marriage, abortion and euthanasia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VVD

(But don't worry, I didn't vote in the poll)

Poor Americans :(
I would never even consider a party that doesn't support gay marriage, abortion and euthanasia. It's your own life, you decide. If you're religious then that's fine, just don't impose your religion on my life. :sohappy:

btw anyone else having problems reaching that political compass website?

Moderate left wing libertarian, apparently. Hanging there with Gandhi, Mandela and Dalai Lama.

(didn't vote due to the racist "US-only" requirement.)
