So I bought me a stock computer from dell about a year ago and it's not bad, but now I wanna make one myself. This is what I have so far as it's incomplete. What do you think? If you have recommendations, I have no exact budget just don't make it ridiculously expensive stuff lol.

The Basics : $1175 total.

Motherboard - GIGABYTE LGA 1156
PSU - CMPSU-750TX 750W
CPU - Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache
RAM - 2 x G.SKILL 4GB(2GB sticks) 240-Pin DDR3
HDD - 2 x Western Digital 640GB 6.0Gb/s
Graphics - GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 260 896MB

Also if you find any incompatibilities, please let me know as I haven't seen any. And no this isn't the complete set up, just the big things I would like input into as to if they are good combo's or not. And I have yet to decide on a case =\ Already have a Monitor.

I'm not sure if you really need a 750 watt supply =/
Your Video card is only 80 watts higher than mine, and I only need a 500 watt supply, which it will most likely never reach either.
I'd say you should take the supply down to 600 watt.
(but you probably shouldn't listen to me, cause I don't know anything about this stuff :soosad:)

Well I always like a cushion between what is recommended and what I am gonna have lol. The 550 is what is recomended for this. But I am also gonna stick in a good Sound card (Doubt it'll be much juice either) Plus I have 2 x HDD and will have Dual Layered Burners eventually. I don't wanna have to upgrade it later lol.

Yea, you can save a few pennies on a psu, but have to upgrade later if you want to stuik another gpu in there. Personally I would go with ATI, maybe a 5870, but that adds $300 to your gpu budget so its up to you. Nvidia 260 is good. Prolly be around for a while so you won't have trouble getting another for SLi.

My Current card doesn't have amazing specs, and it's clarity and resolution is great. So with that one it will be plenty for roughly $200. I can already play a lot of games on high res as well.

I'd say save yourself some money by getting an i5 which is virtually just as good..and upgrading your 260 with that extra cash.

from all the reviews i've read about intel's i5 and i7 lineup, most of them agree that i7 860 LGA1156 is not worth the money for what it delivers. either get an i7 920 (LGA1366), or if you want to go the more budget approach with LGA1156, get an i5 750 and overclock it.

personally i have an i5 750 overclocked to 3.4GHz.

Well the power consumption/process speed is very good in what i've read. Maybe that's why it's priced at this. I may get something better. But somethign better usually means $100 for something that is 0.2 GHz faster with more power consumption. All reviews I've read are mostly good things about it. I will look into the i5 though =]
