Lol I predict not much difference. Except for ppl not getting in trouble for it ... I don't smoke, and still won't if it becomes legal, but I know some people that do.. and still will when it's legal.. So no difference there at least.

I hate how some people assume they know everything about weed because they smoke it ( not insinuating you do either) because I have heard that there is no such thing as being perma fried. That's is some major Bullshit lol. My GF's Friends Dad is Perma fried.. as is his 17 yr Son. And this guy I was in Youthbuild with is perma fried. Even after not smoking for over 3 months or so(drug tested a lot) he was still the same as before. There is only one person I know that his life didn't change for the worse when he smoked weed. As heroo stated "Responsibility". A lot of pot heads lack it.

well being that I live about 30 minutes away from Los Angeles, there is tons of places around here to just go get your medical recommendation..
however, in November when this comes out on the ballot, im 100% positive that this bill will pass, and California will change for the better..
(we need an extra 10 billion a year in revenue and this is a great way to get it)

Perma fried? Wtf is that?
It's legal over here and it causes no problems at all.

it's true. a lot of people do change after they start smoking weed.
but I have been smoking weed for a half year now (once a week on friday) and i don't think i've changed. i still get good grades at school, i still work and i still go to the gym.
i smoke it because sometimes it's better than alcohol, because when i'm drunk it usually takes 12 hours before i sober up, but when i smoke i'm only stoned for 2 hours or so and after that i'm totally normal again.

What kind of logic is that, lol? Legalizing something that is currently illegal only means that crime rate will drop due to people not going to jail for it anymore or distributing the substance illegaly. It doesn't mean everyone and their mother is going to start smoking weed now. Currently, if someone decides they want to smoke marijuana in Cali, they do it whether is legal or not. Read about Prohibition in the US in the 1920's, and you'll see just how effective it is when we make recreational substances illegal. (Spoiler: It isn't)
This doesn't affect me personally though. I don't live in Cali or have ever smoked marijuana. Never really had an urge to try it. *shrug*

I smoked pot at a party once, good shit but my breath was so rank afterward. That was reason enough to not touch the stuff, again. As for legalizing it, why the hell not? The "pot heads" will still get high, the drug dealers will become pharmacist

, and the government can finally sin tax the damn thing.

It won't change much, if you want to smoke weed, you can easily get it. But the state does need money and it'll help a lot, I'm definitely voting for it.
As Love said, this should have happened a long time ago, but at least it's a step forward. Hopefully our next step will be successfully passing a gay rights bill.

Phew, I'm glad you know what you're talking about. Not. From this statement you are not allowed to ever drink alcohol, do tobacco, or anything remotely dangerous. I appreciate you trying to hold my hand and all..
"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage.
This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others."
"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."
"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."
"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."
Harry J. Anslinger
(1892-1975) Assistant Prohibition Commissioner in the Bureau of Prohibition, first Commissioner of the Treasury Department's Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) (1930-1962, 32 years), US Representative to the United Nations Narcotics Commission
It's a good thing we aren't still living in the past...
Let us do a little research:
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/a ... type=HWCIThttp://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/ ... use-cancerhttp://www.newscientist.com/article/dn8155http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic ... es_neuronshttp://www.webmd.com/mental-health/news ... mage-brainBRB - Going down to the liquor store. I plan to drink a few liters of vodka and ingest 15 Advils... hope I don't die. Oh wait, maybe I should use my brain and not depend on the government to tell me what I can and can not put in my body? It's called responsibility.
This is only an attack on those who say "ZOMG! TIS A DRUG BAN NOW OMG NOOOOO DRUGGGGG!!!" Ok. Don't do it. Have you seen an alcoholic? Have you seen someone die from cancer caused by tobacco?
There are so many other thing's out there that could harm you... you can OD on caffeine, you can OD on alcohol, you can OD on OTC medicine, you can OD on water. You can't OD on cannabis.
Legalization and taxation and all that jazz could prove tricky, but I think it a reasonable step forward. PS. I've only smoked 5 times in my life.

Just because nothing bad happens after smoking several joints doesn't mean its bad, but that doesn't mean pot is good for you either. Personally, I wouldn't do anything like that even if there are no immediate bad effects. What if 40 or 50 years down the road, you get medical problems from too much pot? Its just common sense to know that there IS going to be some kind of a change, long term or short term if you do something that alters your body chemistry. It'd be funny if pot users get cancer or whatever and then come back to a 2010 post on SRF and think to themselves "why was I so fcking stupid back then?". But then again, its your right, nobody should tell you what to do.
Personally, I don't like the trend that drugs are going through in America. You know how China got owned by europe and Japan back in the late 19th century/early 20th century? They handed out opium to chinese people and they couldn't do anything to fight back cause they were so drugged. Now of course marijuana isn't bad as opium, but the fact that our country is heading toward the direction of legalizing drugs is disturbing to me. 30 years down the road, I don't want to see potheads running our government and potheads running the military when china/russia decides to attack america or something. History repeats itself.

Yeah but who would you trust if you don't know how to grow your own. The Government, or a drug dealer with a gun, that can probably shoot you and keep the weed and your money.

I am pretty sure California is a hotspot for weed anyways so if this pass's they can maybe get out of bankruptcy.
I really think all state's should pass this bill, its so easy to get weed nowadays, and even some of the cops smoke weed.
Some people might buy from the drug dealers who sell it cheaper but California has Hollywood, which means a lot of celebrity's, and if they want to do weed they would never risk getting it cheaper and getting caught.

Well its already decriminalized, and not enforced well in most places:

Map is inaccurate. I've read a story about Michigan having it legal to get prescriptions for marijuana, but the person can still be fired by their job if they don't allow such things. On there it shows Michigan as "Confirmed Illegal."

Ah, checked the Michigan specific page, I guess they don't add medicinal use into all that other stuff.

At least, there are a few people in this thread who know what they're talking about. Unfortunately for the two of you, neither of you are in that group. Marijuana is definitely not harmless, but the "dangers" are often blown out of proportion or completely untrue. This is especially true if all of your drug information comes from the Above the Influence commercials. Luckily, EvGa has the studies covered. =P
