Health Care Reform

Post by Ownage »

Well seeing as today's the big vote on Health Care Reform in the House, I was wondering on your thoughts about it. I personally do not like it, especially over the entire abortion thing. I just don't think I should pay for abortions, when I think they aren't right :nowant: .

So discuss! :D

Hm ....

Anything else besides 'paying' for abortions as to why you don't like the health care reform bill?

I keep hearing "threats to the status quo for small businesses" 'n "raising the deficit" ...I honestly wanna know what you have against it other than just that (abortions) ...lol

republicans aren't raging because of the bill, they are raging because obama is black.

And republicans are hypocritical - bush's prescription drug bill expanded government health coverage. Plus the fact that like $600 billion of the deficit is due to bush's tax cuts and the iraq/afghanistan wars he started.

That's one of 'em ...

There's also tax cuts for the middle class (lower premiums), coverage for those that can't really afford it nowadays (poor, etc), no more denial of coverage for whatever reason for whoever (like denial of chemo for people w/ cancer halfway through treatment), as well as improvement in practices for both doctors / patients ...

you can read up more on what they propose and what they say'll change (can take this w/ a grain of salt, if you want) here:

I like some things from the Health Care, but some things that bother me:

-The quality will be lowered due to a lot more patients

-Although it can't be certain right now, most people believe doctors will be paid less after the reform, now doctors make a lot after reform if their pays kind lower down I think there might a shortage of doctors. I mean don't get me wrong but doctors are smart, but a lot of them go into medical for the money, and if medical isn't paying as well, less people will want to go through hell to become a doctor.

-With this Health Care Reform everyone will have health insurance so imagine the waiting lines. I have talked to some people in Canada and they say it takes quite a while for them to get a doctors appointment and everything because of the long lines.

- America is going through a recession and we don't have enough money for Social security imagine paying for this entire bill.

I think Health Care Reform is needed, but now just isn't the right time in my opinion.

Doctors in Western Europe make more than a fair living for what they do.

You have a clinic, family doctor, and hospital. If you pick the right one for what you have there is no issues with long lines. Also, a lot of Canadian doctors move to the US for the $ increasing wait times.

It's true, i've waited 45 minutes to see a doctor about a sinus infection. But it's also true my grandfather had heart bypass only a week or so after seeing the doctor.

Wait time is determined by how badly you need to be treated, not how much you can pay. If you go to the hospital because you have a runny nose, you might have to wait while they treat gunshot victims.

Yeah! I'd rather have no waiting time and have poor people die. What the hell are they thinking, taking my precious time with their diseases!

I just don't think I should pay for abortions, when I think they aren't right

Universal health care is a good thing. That you have to pay for someone else their abortion is just tough luck. A price you will have to pay for a better world for everyone. Chances are you already pay for a lot of stuff you don't believe in (state funded rehabs etc)
If you put it into context, not even a cent of what you will be paying 'extra' will go to abortions. It's not like you are enabling a mass of trailer trash whores waiting for their 'free' abortions. There was/is no run on abortions in the Netherlands (or any country) because of universal health care, so stop opposing a plan because of a trivial issue

republicans aren't raging because of the bill, they are raging because obama is black.

Isn't that a bit 'far out there'? I'm not from America so I may not be in the best position to judge this, but this seems pretty ridiculous. Does it not?

this sounds extremely uninformed. It sounds like you don't know whats in the bill. It sounds like you don't understand that you already pay for alot of things you may or may not agree with. It sounds like you don't understand the actual fiscal situation of this country or how it spends its money. I could go on...

Look if you don't enough about something to formulate a good opinion on it then you probably shouldn't have any opinions on it at all. I find the lack of education in this country disturbing and i know there are millions of people out there shouting the same rhetoric completely ignoring all the facts that prove them wrong...

As for the bill, im not happy about it. Its not what Obama promised, its a watered down half-ass attempt and its a shame that its still better than nothing for millions of people. That the people we elected to represent us got together and only managed this, that the democrats despite having a majority failed to accomplish anything, that something that should be obvious and will clearly benefit so many people is being turned on by the people its trying to help...all those things speak volumes about the state this country is in...

Well I can see most people here support the bill so I won't argue. But to this comment, I am a High School student, now I am somewhat into "Politics" but I haven't read the entire bill, I have read enough though. I am not an adult, this won't affect me much YET so don't expect me to know it all.

I don't know much on the bill, but I support universal care. It's working just fine in other countries, why wouldn't it work in the US?

No worries, the president has committed to signing an executive order so that it will be illegal for the government to pay for an abortion.

It really won't change anyone's life here. People need to calm down and start thinking for themselves instead of letting CNN or Fox think for them.

This is a good thing for America, though not the best, but a good step forward.

Ownage you are such an ignorant fk is aggravating and I actually feel the need to physically punch you in the face for your lack of awareness of any kind, this is exactly what is wrong with fox news and religion and why people like you shouldn't have a voice whatsoever.

Let me address what ignorant fks like yourself need to know and why this bill is one of the worst things the government could/is trying to pull on the American people in a while.

( I'll actually address your post first ... )

Ownage wrote:I like some things from the Health Care, but some things that bother me:

Initially there could well be some availability of care issues due to the increase in pool of the less wealthy understandingly, this however does not mean the system cannot support itself and as a matter of fact with the practice of preventional care more people will get sick less often and the gravity of things we would see at hospitals will be less greater thus less costly.

Ownage wrote:-Although it can't be certain right now, most people believe doctors will be paid less after the reform, now doctors make a lot after reform if their pays kind lower down I think there might a shortage of doctors. I mean don't get me wrong but doctors are smart, but a lot of them go into medical for the money, and if medical isn't paying as well, less people will want to go through hell to become a doctor.

With a single payer system not only could we match what doctors are getting paid now but increase that by some and add a number of doctors to the payroll, problem with such system lies in the fact that the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS which btw are dealing with humans lives do not make a profit, is astonishing how everyone seems to accept that these organizations must unarguably keep making profits/keep in business when we are are obviously facing financial troubles when it comes to this basic HUMAN RIGHT, understand how ridiculous it is that we as a country are struggling to afford this yet we must pay a private organization so that they can keep making business ( at our expense.... ).

A decent anology for this would be that there is a lake and fkface bob owns it and this is the only drinkable water available for humanity and he charges one arm for glass of water, question is then will we allow bob to keep ownership of such an indispensable resource and and have humanity at the mercy of his monopoly or will we do what is beyond rational and make that water available for everyone and compensate fkface Bob handsomely as we see appropriate ( keep in mind that in the case of health care reform you are not taking any1's lake, you are simply deciding to run business by yourself and stop paying ridiculous royalties, also think of how this analogy could apply to the insane royalties on drugs ).

Ownage wrote:-With this Health Care Reform everyone will have health insurance so imagine the waiting lines. I have talked to some people in Canada and they say it takes quite a while for them to get a doctors appointment and everything because of the long lines.

Just not truth and the situation in Canada is beyond reasonable, is a slap in the face to criticize them when we are in the situation we are in, also you are not taking into account that we spend more than double per person ( keep in mind that factual number is way higher than double ) than any country on earth and we do not receive the care, is idiotic to think that with all the extra capital we couldn't do much better than them or to say the least 100% better.

Ownage wrote:- America is going through a recession and we don't have enough money for Social security imagine paying for this entire bill.

You are being an ignorant fk here again, to say the least this is just not truth, even with the absorb/corrupt bill that is being voted on tonight we would save over a trillion usd over the next 10 years, knowing that imagine how much more we could save if we didn't have to pay the profits of the private organizations ( which btw if this bill passes will be in the trillions ). Also know that we already have the infrastructure to run this for ourselves ( healthcare is our infrastructure ) and the only thing keeping us from running our own healthcare is our corrupt/lobbied system.

Now I will reinstate some points in the hopes you get a clue, over the past years health care insurance has raised premiums while not having an increase in expenses ( translation, they had and further increased their profits abusing their monopoly BECAUSE THEY ARE A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION and what is sickening is that they are dealing with humans lives in this "business", if you dont understand the premisis of what that means you are , well what you are.

Again for the last time, we are paying for something we can't afford for no reasonable reason and the truth we are operating under is that these entities must ( and will do everything in their power to ) stay in business and are being protected by our politicians because these entities are by far the highest bidder, ironically enough their money comes from our pockets translating into essentially what is becoming a form of modern enslavement being allowed only by ignorance.

I'll add more crap later if I see a need for it but this is a good place to start.
