Olympics: 10 km ice skating

Post by LillDev!l »

Did anyone watch it ?

For those who dint :
Sven Kramer, Dutch iceskater was on the way for a first place / olympic record.
His coach seemed to have pointed to the inner lane, and Sven switched lanes last second.
He got disqualified >.<
Thats so harch, training ages for that.
When he crossed the line he lifted his hands thinking he'dd won.

Young Korean guy won, who was a short tracker untill september.
He does deserve it, he did well on 5 km aswell ^^ But still xD

Kramer was much faster, damn what a bummer, if it ends like this.

yeah omg :( :( :(

Coach pointed to wrong lane or said that he had to switch idk. Feel so sorry for the both of them. Sven is obviously pissed at his coach, but wasn't his coach's intention for sure.
I feel so sorry for Sven. This was his goal.

But even though the coach failed, he should have at least had the decency to tell Sven during the race. (Sven did a wrong switch at like 75% of the race, and then completed the race and got #1 time, but was disqualified right away)
This is like the most rare mistake you can make in skating. So sad :(

This was supposed to be our superior Dutch medal, to keep the legacy intact. A 100% lock for gold.
I feel so sorry for Sven

Yeah, the coach' intentions were good, and seeing how well that race went, it's really sour.
Wouldn't it be the 100th (gold) medal for The Netherlands? I believe I read something like that.

The Korean was fast, but I wouldn't be that ecstatic, Kramer would have won 1st place for sure. I wouldn't want to win like this.

His reply to the camera was mature though,
At the start, when he heard it he threw away his glasses and was mad as hell.
When replying to the camera after a while, he explained what happend calmly- just the disapointment was left.

I dont know if it would have been the 100th gold, but hes just the national skating hero, and he deserved that gold ^^

Well it would have continued the legacy of Nagano, Salt Lake, Turin (+Vancouver). All gold on the 10k for the Netherlands. Nagano even an all Dutch podium.

@RuYi, yea it was the last race. Don't know if you mean last race of this 10k, or in general. But it was the last race in the 10k, and last individual skating race. Only team-pursuit left.

@Lilldevil, what did he say in the interview?

For the 10 KM, yes.
Tommorow there will still be team races (if thats a correct translation).
Kramer also has to skate there ^^

Tough luck

EDIT: to woutR, he explained that his coach told him he had to go to the inner lane.
He was asked if he wasnt extremely mad, wanting to hit him or kick something or so (lol), to which he replied no, it is how it is, its ofcource extremely painfull- and a very costly mistake.
Something along those lines.

No, I meant if it was Kramer's last race. I mean, losing like this is already unfortunate, but if this was the last race, it's extra bitter. No one wants it to end like that.

He still is the fastest and best skater at the moment. He just made the mistake but his time is still 4 secs faster than Lee's time.

I feel sorry for him, imagine how bitter you would be after training for that long just to lose a gold in a silly way.

My father was mad at the coach.

He even forced me to stay in the livingroom to see the huge mistake of the coach.

I know what you mean... "You have to stay NOW this are epic times", "but daddy", "DONT DADDY ME WATCH!!"
Fck i was so down, my father saw it and was talking in one second after the wrong turn: "Wrong lane its over"... :nowant: :nowant:
He still is the best skater there will ever be i think, specialy for the long tracks. Kemkers is still one of the best coaches arround nothing to be :palm: of. Its not a fail its a mistake, a dmn stupid mistake..

I was watching it on my room and my mom on her room, at the same time we were happy when we tought he won, and at the same time we were like OOOOOOOOOWWW when we heard the thing about the wrong line.

For dutch people;
En dan zijn er ook nog mensen die denken dat ze grappig zijn me; "Er is altijd een baan die beter bij je past."
Zooo hard, hij heeft er zoo lang voor getraint..
I tend to live in the past because most of my life is there. --
