Gauging piercings

Been thinking about this for a while but never really had the chance to do it.
How long does it usually take to gauge from a regular 18~20 to a 10 or 8 gauge lobe piercing? How should I go about this? Steps?
Thanks

I already have the regular ones. I've had them done like 5 years ago. I don't mean to be an ass or anything but if I wanted an opinion on whether or not I should do it, I would've asked for it. I could stick with googling but it would be better to just ask someone who have done it before.
Thanks though...I guess.

I don't mean to be an ass or anything, but anything posted on a public forum is subject to the opinions of its members.
Gaping holes in ears = retarded

To get gauges your either crazy or white.
(no racist)

Heh...fair enough, I guess. =p
Anyway...if no one from SRF has done it before or is willing to share tips. I'd rather get the topic locked than have a dozen members preaching about how it's a bad idea instead of getting answers to my original question.
Thanks anyway.
@Squirt: I'm asian.

Lol Brago. I'd imagine a lot of scar tissue on that one -_-
If anything, the biggest I'd go for right now is 16 or 14 (maybe).. before actually trying out 10.

Main reason why I'm not going for a 00 lol.
Something around 8-10 shouldn't be too bad. Or maybe even 14 if I'm satisfied enough with it.
thanks =p

Random question ; If you stop wearing them,will the holes close(get back to normal) after a while?

my friend got gauges and he went overboard with them, i liked them when they were small but big enough to see through them.
i say get them but dont over do it, keep them at a fair size.

Lol antics. I'm sticking with my decision. Probably the biggest I'll go for is 8ga but not likely. I'm sticking to around 10ga or 12ga (the smallest).

no offense or anything, but when I see people with gauging it is as if they have a big sign on their ears saying, "LOOK AT ME I'M A COMPLETE RETARD WITH HOLES IN MY EARS!"
it also makes you look like a monkey
Just sayin..

i went from safety pins in my ears to 00 in about 3 months, not recommended but it was fun. and to all the haters, f*ck'em i didnt do it for them and neither should you, there opinions of me/anyone else with gauges is nothing more than a waste of time. I loved my guages and there arent any words but my own that would make me take them out. there are worse things you can be doing besides putting holes in your ears, some people view playing video games the same way people here view gauging.
Edit: and my biggest size was 7/16th(of an inch) and i took them out and they closed back up and my ears are normal.
