So since today was my birthday, I managed to snag me some cash from all the people at my party, etc and was considering purcashing an mp3 player and have come down to two choices.

A)
Zune

B)
Apple

I really can't decide. :palm:

Apps are very limited on the zune if that's of any concern to you..

itouch is over all better imo except for the fact that you have to use itunes =\

jailbreak itouch and get more shit on it

Every portable media player is starting to be called an iPod anyways; so why not?

I'd go for the Apple. Only disadvantage I can think of, is that you need to use iTunes, but I guess that's just something you need to take with it, it's not such a huge problem imo.

If you absolutely need 10000 fart apps then go with an iPod.

Otherwise go with the Zune.
A) You'll stand out.
B) Zune Software and Marketplace are beautiful. (No Zune for Mac, though you can run it through boot camp I hear.)

Apps are tiny and you can add or remove them whenever you want. I have the Zune so I'm a little biased. I love it to death and I find that it is perfect.

Back in the day, Creative came out with really good products that surpassed Apple in terms of quality and features.

My Creative Zen was amazing.

here's their site
http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/

although it's been like 7 years, I'm sure the iTouch is the best thing out there right now
but if you have time check out creative's products.
Creative really suffered from lack of good marketing.

You only need 1. It's actually pretty simple to bypass it =p

I used to be anti Ipod just because everybody had one and well..itunes. I still have my old creative zen mp3, but the itouch wipes it away. Jailbreak it and put oldschool pokemon on it =)

It is worth mentioning that there are plenty of other options out there like these:

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/mobi ... returnurl=
http://www.jetaudio.com/products/cowon/s9/
or
http://www.archos.com/products/imt/arch ... us&lang=en

By no means do you have to be stuck with iTunes.

It all depends on how much BS you want to cut through.

dont know why people slag off itunes its a good music player yes sometimes uses more physical memory then you want but if you have 4-8gb it dont really matter hell runs fine off 2gb ram, plays musics

now if it plays music what does it matter what music player you use?

Features suck compared to other music players. I personally love the zune music player..itunes just does stupid shit that annoys me.

even small things like auto sync or the plug-in-itouch-and-apps-uninstall shit.

In that case you should be using windows media player. Obviously you know what 'features' I'm referring to.

i have an ipod but iv used itunes for a long time i prefer its layout all my songs in 1 big list works for me but ok tell me now what features are you refering to? equalizer? visualiser? go on tell me

equalizer
visualizer
ability to burn
metadata handling(extremely important)
overall layout
ability to interact with 3rd party (ipod, zune, etc)
video play (VLC wins this one)
'smart' DJs
applications
programs linked to accounts (itunes -> itunes store)
things like radio and podcasts

and then how each of these features differs and how efficient each one is.

some you can bundle up with 3rd party although ipod is not 3rd party when used with itunes as its designed for that

but video play is not needed in a music player
applications im not sure what you mean there

dont know what metadata is

but the others minus smart dj is included in nearly every music player (nearly note that key word) my arguement was originally is why people count itunes as a minus factor with the ipods when it offers a good service and covers all basic bases need it can

burn discs
playlists
play music
interact with ipod
can play videos to some extent although def not a key feature
some kind of dj system
itunes store
equalizer
visualiser

now i dont use most of these but it does have them so why is itunes considered a negative point

If you like apps and other fluff go with the Zune HD.

However, if you're just buying a player for music only then go with the Cowon S9. It is the best sounding player out of all the current gen players, has a better screen than all current gen players with the Zune HD having a comparable screen, supports a wide variety of audio and video formats(WMA, MP3, APE, FLAC, OGG, WAV, DivX, XviD, WMV, and H.264), 55hr battery life, and you don't have to worry about being confined to iTunes, etc.

Or just get a Nexus One.

I think the iTunes debate needs to stop. It is a well known fact that it's really shitty on Windows and bickering isn't going to change that. This comes down to personal preference.
