I'm doing a web developer course aswell, second year now, currently doing a lot on PHP and SQL. Starting a degree on web dev next year aswell, cant wait.

Anyway, looks nice. Its clean, simple, appealing on the eye.
Dont like the header though, i'm guessing you've just got that from a template and added your own text to it. Saying that, its kinda hard to know what you have and havent done. I see you've used Joomla, which i'm guessing is similar to Drupal (only cms i've used, but that kinda did pretty much everything for you).

Sorry to saw so but the site fails.
Really a lot of missing links and lots of things to work on. You probably should have finished it a bit more before releasing.
Anyway, its a nice concept and I wish you the best of luck

I think the whole point of this site is for him to develop his skills n crap. Not to make some amazing site and make money off it etc.
And its generally best to get a site up and running when learning for both experience and feedback. So i completley disagree with you.

(oh and i didnt notice anything not working. i only had a quick glance, but the code seemed fine).

Yea thats kinda the idea, its not supposed give profit, its mainly to learn about making websites, and a good way of doing so is with feedback.

HTML is too easy but you used a template?
Using a CMS like joomla is easier than HTML. You don't need to code anything, especially if you used a template.
The only modification it looks like you did was to change "Miaw's Page" on the banner, which came with the template.
Looking at the forum, we see it's also a template (and doesn't match the main site).
I can appreciate the value in learning, and i've done quite the same when I was learning. But I will not praise for being able to use a template.

Making a template with joomla takes time, allot of php needs to be in place ( php i havent learned yet )
Making a site with joomla is something everyone can do, even without knowledge about codes.
I only made this site and the forum because i want to know how a cms system and a forum system works, since its the best way to make a website for a customer, the customer have full controle of what is getting on the site since it is the customer there is putting things on the site himself, all you need is setting it up, then there is no maintenance.
Ive worked with photoshop for 2-3 years, i dont need to prove anything, so i took the template because it was the easy and fast way ( and needs knowledge about php wich i havent learned yet ) im only testing the diffrent systems there is out.
I can change the diffrent banners, headers etc at any given time, but im not going to learn anything about building websites from that, it would be waste of time.
Im not trying to prove "im the best at this, i own u" so knock it off.

trust me creating a simple joomla template is not hard, i basically took my html code and replaced the content with a place holder for the modules and a xml file to show where everything is and i was done
also remove the pdf,print,email icons

forum looks perfect to me outside color choices, nice and clean.
site itself looks too plain, you basically have what appears to be a project in the very center with a lot of space left unused all over, and dont get me wrong couse I like where it's going, I just dont think it was done properly, right side of the screen specially upsets me.
