Windows 7 and lag spikes

Recently, I got Windows 7 for my new computer but I'm having a major issue with it.
Whenever I play an online game my ping constantly starts spiking resulting in countless DC's and just a horrible gaming experience. I've looked through countless amounts of threads on other forums and google for a solution, but I have yet to find one that works.
So for the people running Windows 7... any fixes for your problems?
I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit and I see a lot of people having issues with these types of things.
Already download WLAN Optimizer, which didn't help. Edited my registry, which didn't help.
I run wireless by the way.
Any other possible solutions?

Countless threads over the internet referring to this problem. They all seem to have solutions that work for them, but all the ones I try have no affect.

The list really just goes on...
But this basically attempts to explain what happens:

God knows how true it is though.
Edit: My roommate has no lag and he runs Vista.

The only problems i've had with Windows 7 so far were with my Windwos Explorer crashing and then restarting.

The last link you mentioned was the only one that worked for me.

Make sure you did it correctly. I was experiencing the exact same issues you described.

Never heard of the OS being the cause of net problems in this sense..

Have you looked into other issues first? Router/modem/network etc

...so everyone knows your os is the base in which all your other programs run so yes it can interfer with the net and no its not uncommom for a 64bit to do so compatability issues an all 32bit its more uncommon but stil the os is the base line

try uninstalling your network drivers and let windows reinstall, if this doesn't fix it try going to the manufactures(like realtek for instances) website for updated drivers.

When you said "new computer", did you mean that you installed Windows 7 on your computer? Where you installed a new OS over its default and is now running Windows 7?

This is pretty much the only real way to a solution in this topic.

If you don't have any new hardware then it's related to either compatibility issues with your wireless encryption protocol (the way your router handles a secure network) and windows 7, or it's really a driver issue with your (old?) network card and W7.
