Tried R.A. Salvatore's books? Maybe Dresden Files? IMO one of the most underrated series ever.

The Seig Larsson(?) series (Girl with the dragon tattoo, Girl who played with fire ETC.) was an awesome awesome awesome one, I highly reccomend. Best crime/action novel (correct me if I genre'd it wrong)I've ever read.

Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
Dalemark Quartet - Diana Whine Jones
Septimus Heap series: Magyk, fysik, flyte, Queste, Syren - Angie Sage (OMG I just found out that I haven't read the last 2 D:, never knew they existed)

These are my favorites ^^. They're all written in a style similar to Harry Potter, though they're a lot better in my opinion.

I am planning on reading that one.
And yeah although people who like literature sometimes get in heated debates about Dan Brown, I still think his books are very, very entertaining. To this date it was the only book I really had to keep on reading. (Angels and Demons is his best imo)

I have to agree with you. I have only read the Angels and Demons and now I'm reading the Lost Symbol and they are both really entertaining.

Poorly written..well, poorly translated.

I know you said it's not exactly you're type of read but just in case, "Execution by Hunger"

I agree. dan brown writes in a way that makes you keep wanting to read the next chapter but angels and demons has like 3 twists at the very end which just made it that much more amazing

Translation: I have Amos Daragon 1-12 at my house and I read them at least 5 times each
really good books, but they're in french :P

other than that I suggest the Lightning thief series, its pretty good

This. This. This. This. This. :D

And any of Dan Brown's books - although I didn't enjoy the Lost Symbol because by this time, his plot really feels formulaic.

Crime and Punishment - Dostoyevsky (9)
Battle Royale - Takami (8.5)
Les Misérables - Hugo (10)
The Catcher in the Rye - Salinger (9)
Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World - Murakami (10)
Gravity's Rainbow - Pynchon (if you think you're hot stuff) (9)

Books you must read. If you're just looking for a quick read, Battle Royale (you'll never put it down) or The Catcher in the Rye (short).
