Snow > the Netherlands
For the first time in a couple of years we finally have some decent in snow in the Netherlands... and the entire country is DOWN!
30cm of snow and the Netherlands is done for. My school has given us 'snowfree'. The buses have stopped driving in the north and most of my lazy teachers have called in saying they can't come to school. I guess that's why we have snowfree.
The amount of traffic is insane, we're already in the top5 of all time traffic in the Netherlands, but it just keeps on snowing so maybe it will get even worse.
Pretty insane how a lot of countries deal with these conditions every day and cope just fine, but when it suddenly happens in the Netherlands we're just completely caught with our pants down and the country fails to function properly.
All trains have delays and are probably overly full, people are afraid to drive so they take the train.
I knew there was going to be some shit with my school so I just didn't bother coming in the first place. I spent my morning shoveling snow, which is something I've almost never done. It was actually fun. But I guess the novelty of that wears off fast though.
But enjoy the snow while it lasts, I know I will.

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
I also live in the east, near Arnhem and we have atleast 10 cm of snow here.
Me and my friend literally risked our life when we went on the scooters to school lol. We were almost hit by a car.
But snow is fun

No you dont, here in Sweden there have been a snowstorm for 2 days straight, if the roads isnt ploughed it is atleast 30cm snow. So damn annoying.
Re: Snow > the Netherlands
That happened here last year.
Now.... well for now it's snowed only a bit for now, prolly gonna get melted by tomorrow.

I'm in Leeuwarden (north)
And there's about 40 (!!) cm here.
We can't go to school or even to a shop, so that pretty sucks.
But except for that, i love snow

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
Not the best quality, but these are some pics from Friesland (northern Netherlands) from this morning.

It´s way worse now, at least 30~cm snow at some places and it's still snowing heavy.

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
It's still snowing here in Assen. I think we have like 20cm snow here. My hard efforts of snow shoveling have already vanished, so much more new snow falling all the time.
Tomorrow I have 1 hour class and then it's holidays, but I'm gonna skip that hour as well.
Merry Christmas everyone

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
It stopped snowing here.
Now there's a strong wind/snowstorm.
We can't watch trough our windows, but there's something like 35 cm left here.
Tomorrow we should've had Christmas Breakfast, but it's cancelled. Merrrrrryyyy Christmas!

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
Boskoop (near The Hague) only had about 5-7 cm's of snow.
They dealt pretty well around here with the snow. Going to school (6km over a dike along the river) just took the same amount of time as it always takes me. There wasn't any chaos on the roads in Alphen. But 5 cm of snow is to deal with.

Re: Snow > the Netherlands
First snow in October, usually gone by the end of May. I've got no shortage of shoveling snow. Well, we don't usually get over 100cm snow here, but when I was doing my military service up north..
