The job market is terrible at the moment, though slowly getting better, but very slowly. Adults with degrees and job experience can't get jobs, so why should you?

Especially when it's just for a computer and 360, christmas is coming up, just ask for them then.

I know exactly how you feel. I made 15 copies of my resume, went to apply at a couple places... and each time Sorry you must be 16. In canada, most places hire at 16. I really want a new laptop too

Do good in school so you can get a lot of money from scholarships and grants when you go to college. Then get a 360 and a computer.

i quit my amazing job because of school, im 17 and i still got 3kCAD in the bank, imo school is more important than a stupid console game, which wont get you very far in life...
Son, get a degree in medical school, people will be begining you to come to their hospitals, with a 500k salary at like 28 - 29 years old..
But no life..

Yea where I live its really hard (I'm 17) I got 1 interview at Best Buy for geek squad and I was the only one there that knew a thing about computers and they didn't hire me. I think I've applied at 16 places now? I hate the people that apply at one place and POW they get the job.

lol but its the truth, at 19 you get into university, and 10 years later your a doc. 19+10 roughly 29 - 30 and at the moment docs are really needed...
If thats not what you meant, please clarify your statement...

Sign on with a staffing service.
It's something to fall back on while putting out applications.

Go to an agency. Lie about your level of experience. Most of the time, they won't even need a resume. If they ask you if you've had experience in some easy job, tell them "yes" but you had a slightly different system. Doesn't matter, they'll still train you.
I'm just glad I'm able to keep my hotel auditing job for more than 2 years now as a part-time since senior year in HS. I'm in college right now and hopefully, the medical field job market is as good as they say - recession proof.

You must be doing something wrong because easy menial jobs around the age of 15-18 are always easy to get.
I don't think you should type out resumes and spread them all over or something. Just go to the store and ask if they need people, a direct approach is the best for these kind of jobs.
At the moment I don't work, but all my friends have really no problems at all getting work.

Had the same problem last summer. Couldn`t really find anything for my age (I`m 16, gonna be 17 in January). At the beginning of the school year, I`ve found a job at a super market. I`m just putting milk stuff on the shells lol. I get paid a minimum, but hey, at least something. Every weekend, and sometimes on holidays, and I get enough money to party, buy clothes and go out with friends..

Just ask some friends that already have a job, maybe they`ll find you one too.
