So, as title says: In your opinion, Should DDT Be Banned Worldwide?

As some of you may know, in some countries in the world DDT is banned because it's a hazardous material and it can in fact, kill people. Most developed countries have banned the usage of DDT, but the majority of second world countries have not.

I believe everyone should have different opinion about this depending on where you live and the type of media you have been exposed to about this topic. I'm currently studying this and would like to know what you guys think about the subject. And see if I can find a relationship (little as it may be) in your responses between where you live and other third factors which I will have to think about.


PS: DDT is a synthetic pesticide for the ones that don't know what it is.

Very harmful to the enviorment, also damages eggs, makes it soft or something, idk wasnt paying attention in economics.

Is it even possible to ban it worldwide?

No it should not be banned. The issue with DDT came about because ignorant farmers were using it in the wrong way. DDT is very potent and just a little bit will do the job. If they limited its use to trained and able persons, it will not reach dangerous concentrations.

If there is something that can get the job done and is not as harmful then yes it should be banned. But if not then I agree with chickenfeather. And also, it should only be available for certain people and only a certain amount.

I don't know for sure, but I know for a fact that one of those relative products was banned in quebec around the year 2000 - 2001

Well it would be hard but it is possible. CFC saw a near worldwide ban in 2000.

Now I had no idea what syntehtic pesticide was ( I thought it would be some insect control thing, I was somewhat right ) but I did some looking up on it and I would say yes ban it. It causes a lot of problems with babies, but it is kind of a lose-lose situation, without it corps would fail more and at this time, under recession, we can't let corps fail.

Actually 95.67% people don't know what DDT is and 89.983% don't know what a synthetic pesticide is. Get your facts straight!
