Yup! You heard right. The new Microsoft office 2010 has now been officially released.
In order for Microsoft to ensure that google won't take over their market, they decided to release a beta version. They have also learned from the great success of letting Windows7 have a long beta stage, that it generates more buyers to release the public beta as soon as possible.
I am downloading my version atm (40%). You can get yours too.
Here it is:
http://technet.microsoft.com/da-dk/eval ... 90818.aspxI will upload some screenshots as soon as the installation is done

Pictures of sharepoint (so awesome)
You are able to synchronize everything. Movies, pictures, calender everything! It is just like google wave

I am testing this program with a mate from school atm. I'll create a video about the program if you want to see it

I thought that too. However, after being forced (by school system) to use 2007, I like it way more than the 03 version as it has more features and its faster to use when you get used to it.
So I have pretty high expectation for the 2010 version. 92% downloaded now

It actually has not been officially released yet. (Official release would imply that it's the final consumer-grade version, which it isn't) This is a beta program (as you mentioned) to gather public feedback before the final version is released. If this is like last times beta, the license provided will only be good until a month before the final version of MS Office 2010 is released. These releases are usually very buggy but get much better with MS provided updates along the way. Having a long beta period doesn't necessarily mean a successful launch btw. I beta tested Windows Vista from the time it was called Blackcomb but "success" isn't exactly the word I'd use to describe Vista. Also, I don't think Google is exactly anywhere near threat level to Microsoft in the word processor/powerpoint market, lol.
That being said, I've had this for a few days but I'm still not crazy about the ribbon UI. It feels way too busy and obstructive. Needs regular menus back, or at least a cleaner alternative. The translator thing is nice though.

No but that's at least what Microsoft believes
And also, Microsoft DO believe that Google might become a a threat. It will probably take some time though hehe

The installation is nearly done now.

Some screenshots are ready.
And I just found this AWESOME program called SharePoint Workspace. It allows you to share files etc. via the internet. For example you can share school documents with your friends using a Microsoft program. You can syncronize calender etc. etc. You HAVE to check it out. freaking awesome!

I'll just wait for the Office Web Apps. Since I've been using Google Docs for quite some time, I'll probably use them more when they come out than their desktop counterparts.

It is really good.
You can compare vista and windows 7 to office 2007 and office 2010.
The only differences from 2007 is that it has more features, even more awesome programs, new features etc. etc.

@Squirt: I don't know. It can't be more than 2007 I am pretty sure
