Woman Passes Driving Test after 950 Attempts

A South Korean woman has managed to pass the written exam for a driver's license after 950 attempts over a four-year period of relentless endeavor.

“Sixty-eight-year-old Cha Sa-soon finally managed to secure the 60 out of 100 points needed to pass the test,” said Choi Young-chul, a police official at the drivers' license agency in Jeonju --- 130 miles (210km) south of Seoul.

The grandmother has spent more than 5 million won ($4,200) on application fees for the test. She took the test nearly every day since April 2005. Cha Sa-Soon must now pass the practical test to get on the road.

The South Korean woman says she wants a driver's license so she can use a vehicle to sell vegetables and other goods.

written is stupid and dumb and has dumb knowledge questions on it. it took me 3 tries and i pass my exit test first try. i don't get how written tests decide how good your driving is. maybe she just dosen't know what the legal alcohol limit was, OR maybe she didn't know which side of the road to drive on. who knows.

Written tests don't test for practical knowledge; that's why the actual driving test is called the "practical" test. The written test is there so they know you know the laws of the road before you actually go out and test with an official; basically stuff like what's legal/illegal, what signs mean what, what lines on the road mean what, etc., etc. If you don't know that stuff, who the hell would want to get in a car with you '~,o?

OT: I dunno the motor vehicle laws of Korea, but it sounds like she just wants to setup a shop from like a van or something considered a "vehicle" where she needs a license to do so.

i guess your right here in canada except alberta iirc you get your first license with only a written then a year later you take a practical test and can drive alone and on highways. so you have some people who have never driven in their life on the road with only knowing the rules.

Man Passes Driving Test After 272 Tries

Seo Sang-moon passed the academic part of his driver’s license examination on his 272nd attempt earlier this week. The repairman, from a small town in the southeastern part of the county who will soon turn 70, said he was illiterate and used the test process to teach himself the rules of the road because he could not read them in a manual. Since the oral exam was launched, Seo took the test as often as he could, paying about $1,000 in fees along the way. Each failure taught him a little more, and after 271 attempts, he was able to get the minimum score needed to pass the academic test.

Test officials were thrilled to see Seo pass. “He has been coming here for more than five years and we regard him almost as being one of the family,” an official from the exam office said by telephone.

Ozzy Osbourne Passes His Driving Test 30 Years After First Attempt

London, England (BANG) - Ozzy Osbourne has passed his driving test - 30 years after his first attempt. The 60-year-old rocker, who previously battled drink and drug addictions, is thrilled to finally get his license but admits he can't remember how many times he failed his test.

The former Black Sabbath star - who took his first driving exam in 1974 - told Britain's The Independent newspaper: "I've lost count how many times. I remember one time I was doing the three-point turn and I passed out because I'd been to the doctor's earlier and got some Valium for my nerves."

"Some examiners would say, 'I'm not even f***ing getting in the car with you.'"

Although he is now allowed to get behind the wheel, Ozzy admits he has illegally driven with his wife Sharon Osbourne, 57, on numerous occasions, and was once arrested.

He said: "I bought a brand new Mercedes AMG and took Sharon to Tramps club. I drank a load of alcohol and then went down a one-way street the wrong way. I got arrested. It's not everyday you go out in a brand new Mercedes and come home in a police van."

After 5 failed attempts I wouldnt let her try for another year, not just her, evryone. If you are so stupid and you cant pass that test first, second try you dont deserve to drive. Just my opinion.

They make it so dramatic, she FINALLY got 60% of the test right...60% is way below failing in my schools grading system >_>
