Epic Muhammad movie in pipeline
Mosque in New Delhi
Islam is followed by around 1.3 billion people around the world
An epic movie about Islam's Prophet Muhammad is in the pipeline, backed by a producer of the Lord of the Rings.
American Barrie Osborne, who also produced The Matrix, told Reuters the film would be an "international epic" aimed at "bridging cultures".
In accordance with Islamic rules, the Prophet cannot be depicted on screen. Images of the Prophet are considered blasphemous by Muslims.
The $150m (£91m) English language film should go into production in 2011.
2010 talks
Qatari media company Alnoor Holdings, which is behind the plans, said it wanted to attract the "best international talent" for the film.
"The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam," Osborne said.
Raja Sharif, vice president of international projects at Alnoor, told Reuters he expected to conclude deals next year.

So WTF is the movie about? There had better be a lot of killing if it plans on proving to be "epic". Hopefully it wont ever get off the ground.

How do you make a film about someone without dipicting that said someone in anyway? I can see this going the way of the film Submission by Theo van Gogh.

That is pretty offensive calling the Islamic house of God a gamecube...
and anyways about the movie if you want an idea of how this will work out google or watch the message .. it is a relatively old movie about the beginning of Islam etc.. Muhammad is never shown in that movie nor any speech.. and any interaction with him the camera changes to first person view..

Why the phuck are they bothering with this bullshit? No matter how good they make the movie there's gonna be a shit storm raining down because of this. Remember all the riots and murders because of those comic strips? That gamecube pic is hilarious!!! hahaha!
Watch when the first pictures and trailer comes people are gonna start to flip over the littlest shit.
Lets watch them NOT put people being put to death for leaving the religion.

I second that, because one way or the other someone or some group of people dodn't like the way the certain movie came out. i.e this is ridiculous, exaggerating, blasphemy, and etc etc..I mean it's typical for people to criticize, but when it comes to religion of sort people go whacko on it.

Gotta agree with Dopple. First thought that came to mind when I saw that they're making this movie was: "Bombed movie theaters and violent riots."
Please don't give me any of that "omg you're so racist you think all muslims do is bomb shit" ...No. But I do think that there's enough crazy people out there who tend to go apeshit in the name of their religion-people who actually feel righteous enough to kill "blasphemers" for "god."

Exactly! Its supposed to spread peace and love among everyone and look at it now. Ruining womens' lives and blowing up cars in the middle of a crowded street. Islam is definitely not hypocritical!!
