no idea, we'll be given 2 pictures to choose from
and we just write about it in the form of a letter to the editor :S
edit: according to past exam papers, the pictures are really random.

I think the exam is in-class.
moon ninja, when you see the picture, try to make as many associations from the picture to other things.

you have the internet. use it for your own sake.
Google.com there's a lot of words that you use and make it a sentence.

300 words is easy.
I can write a 300 word essay in less than 10 minutes if I wanted to...
Just look at the details on the pictures and write about the smallest ones. Compare the picture to other famous artists etc etc.
Unless this is documentary based? If you are talking about documents then comment on what that document does, and the grammar used..

You just need to become fluent at spewing bullshit. I write the longest papers on stuff I know NOTHING about and get an A everytime. The trick is sounding like you could possibly know what you're talking about.
Just pick a central theme, pile bullshit around it, and write a paragraph at the end to wrap it all up in a neat little package.

First, establish your standpoint - when you see the image, think about whether you like or not; do you agree with its message? does it bother you? does it affect you in a positive or negative way? if so, give around 3 - 5 things (considering 300 words is pretty short, i'd stick to 3 or 4) that stands out in the picture. Now make a blueprint in your head on how your essay/letter would appear.
I. Introduction - make it fluffy and nice with metaphors and fancy words =p
a. "hook statement" - it has to be related to the topic and it has to be something that would entice the readers to keep reading. Here's an example: I remember writing this one essay about Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughter House V like 5 years ago; I started the essay with "Billy Pilgrim is a scar on the face of war..." (or something like that).
b. thesis
c. address/list major points to support your thesis/view
II. Body (1-2 medium sized paragraphs each)
a. point 1
b. point 2
c. point 3
III. Defending/Revisiting
a. if there are some holes in your arguments that seemed a bit out-of-place, this is a great time to revisit them. start with point 1 to 3, don't skip back and forth unless it's really necessary.
IV. Conclusion
a. VERY quick summary and the conclusion ("...and so because BLAH is BLAH, it would be logical to conclude that BLAH is BLAH...")
b. Go out with a blaze. End your essay with a bang. Make it look like your essay's a goddamn manifesto.

z0mg this thread reads like a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals giving out word-for-word from a grade 4 English class handout.

prepare in your mind:
- what is an editor
- what is his job about
- what do he wants
- why do you write him a letter
- convince why he must listen to you
- what is his benefit if he try to help you, etc...

I had a communication class a couple sessions ago where he made us write a couple pages then each subsequent page we had to reduce it. In the end, I think we ended up with like 300 words?

It's funny because in the 8th grade my teacher made me write a 300 word essay and I was like

300 words? What can possibly be worth a grade for 300 words?
Some times Dutch education is nice, but other times it sucks when I read some of these questions about school here.

this one time, I had an english test too, with a random writing thing. we were only supposed to write on one side of the paper, but I made a 4 side full kind of like, story, or maybe even just a plot to something. I dunno, I just started with something like, Hospital, and wrote a whole story around it.
So, do the same.

Is it even possible to have an essay with 300 words? When I write essays, one of my main paragraphs would have roughly 250~ words :\
