Laptop Purchase [ Final Step]

Well, this is a follow-up from my other topic I had 1-2 months ago.Basically Im selling my Desktop for a lower-end Laptop, but I still want to play "normal" games decently.
Tomorrow I'm selling my current Desktop for 450$(Pentium D 2.67 Ghz,2GRam,x1600 Radeon Crossfire). As I'v said before,my budjet is 500-650$
Right now, most Laptops I can afford are either equipped with the Radeon HD 3200 or Radeon HD 4200,which btw,Im wondering if its better than my x1600 Radeon Crossfire(ignoring the fact the HD takes onboard memory).
My question is,how can you compare video cards? What is their to check? The FPS,pixels,w/e?
I wanna be sure I can run all games Im playing and want to play in the future, even if I check the Recommended Spec,I cant tell if the (lets say HD 4200) is better than when they are recommended
