Thinking through it, the first second the bus showed no sign of stopping, like when it hit the other vehicle, I would've ran back.

Actually it was an empty bus parked on a hill and it's brakes gave up(died, broke w/e).

I think he did the right thing, because it takes much more time and energy to turn around and run back, then to just sprint for your life in the same direction you were already running.
