Razer Mice

Hi SRF,
I'm considering buying a Razer mouse, and as I know there are some diehard Razer fans on this forum, I wanted to ask for your help in deciding which mouse to possibly buy.
A little background information:
I don't play any FPS games. The only game that I really play is DotA (WCIII). Other than that, I'll be using the mouse mostly for work. So why do I want a Razer? Because it looks nice.

I currently use a laptop that I work on, but will be buying a desktop once I leave for college. Or maybe a nicer laptop. Who knows.
A few questions that I have:
1) How long would a Razer mouse last me? Provided that I don't abuse it or anything, of course.
2) What mouse would you recommend? The two that I've been looking at are the Lachesis and the Deathadder.
3) Can I use it at school? e.g. just plug it into the USB slot and go?
TIA for your help!

I've owned most of them.
The ones that stand out:
1) Death Adder.
Best overall mouse easily.
2) Microsoft Habu (Uses the microsoft intellimouse shape but with Razer hardware)
I definitely love my Habu, one of the most comfortable mouse i've ever had.

Habu still looks like a Razer

Is that the Window mouse supported by Razer?

(saw something like that on their website)
But I though you coudnt use Razer mouse on a Laptop because you need to insert a PCI Card

I'm using Copperhead and I've been using it for 4 years so far, with no trouble at all.
It's wonderful!

I was hoping Dom would reply to this thread.

If I get the Deathadder, and program some settings into it, will it remember the settings if I switch a computer and just plug it in? It'll work on laptops, correct?
Also, how long will a mouse last me?
Thanks again for the help!

I had the razer copperhead for 2 years and the left mouse button stopped working, now I have the lachesis and I <3 it. one of the best mouses i've seen/used. and it saves your profile settings since theres 5 different profiles that can be saved and it has a memory chip in it.

I'm definitely leaning towards the Lachesis now. In fact, I'm about to purchase it. The onboard memory that the Lachesis has is a must. I'm looking at the Deathadder tech specs right now and it doesn't look like it has any onboard memory to save my settings.

Logitech MX 510 fo lyfe. It's got me hooked on the back/forward buttons on it, what a genius concept. I'll only buy a new mouse if it has the same buttons.
I may need an upgrade, been using this for like 3-4 years but the 518 just isn't for me. (Too light and too high sens in windows. I don't want to run a logitech program to adjust that all the time)
And seriously, onboard memory? What happened to the times where you plugged in your mouse and it was perfect already. I really don't like to 'tweak' this kind of shit, I think it's ridiculous. It either feels right or it just doesn't, thats how I buy my mice.

All Razer mice have internal settings.
My habu has a button on the button you press and it flashes the lights. It can contain 5 profiles.
And the Deathadder is impressive because it's infared, not laser. If you need a mouse that can go high G deathadder is your best option.

Uh oh, I already bought the Lachesis.
Just for clarification, say that I program the buttons on my mouse on my laptop. If I take it out and plug it into another computer (e.g. a computer at school), it'll remember those settings, correct?

Quick question, i need a new mouse as well and I was wondering about the build quality of Razer vs something like Logitech.
I'm going to be using it with my laptop so I will prolly be abusing it a fair amount (ie. rolling the cord around it when I put it in my bag, dropping it, etc.).

infrared can have poor tracking, laser is better.

No.
Laser is more accurate but infared has better tracking.
Laser can't even come close to being able to track at the movement speeds that you can use an infared mouse.
For that exact reason:
Laser = high sens players
Infared = low sens players

Honestly if you arent going to play games with it then there is no point in buying a really expensive mouse just to look nice. In fact itll prolly get stolen out of your dorm room.
Stick with stock pc optical mouses, dont waste your tuition money on a mouse you dont need and wont utilize. Thats my opinion. But if you got the cash, get the death adder. Its legit.

I've had my razer copperhead for about 3 years. longevity is defiantly not an issue with these things.

Picked up the DeathAdder 3.5. All I can say is WOW!!! It is such a welcome change to the wireless notebook mouse I was using in the interim. I loved my BT Microsoft mouse that I unfortunately had to leave at home, but this beats even that. The ergonomics are great.
Anyway, if anyone is still looking into buying this mouse I highly recommend it.
Edit: I love it so much that I've already put some nice scratches on the very front where the cord meets the mouse, oh well.

I have a Habu and G5. I like the G5 better, it's lasted for a good 3 years or so.
