Hardstyle

Any of you people listen to this kind of music? Hardstyle is quite a popular genre in Holland and Italy, and is rising in Australia. I'm listening to it for 2 years now, so I know most good producers and songs/releases because the hardstyle producing community is quite small. This summer I went to a festival called Decibel Outdoor, and I really liked it so for sure I'm going to visit some more harddance festivals. Aftermovie Decibel:
Spoiler!

So any of you listen to hardstyle or is interested in it?

What's the difference between it and techno?

Hardstyle is average 140 - 160 beats per minute, techno 120 - 150 bpm, depending on the style of techno. From wiki: The hardstyle sound typically consists of various musical elements: a "heavy" sounding kick, intense reverse basslines, and "adrenaline-rushing" melodies which often take place at the middle of the song. It bears some similarities to hard trance, but still upholds a unique sound

Everytime i go with my friends to a party/festival where they play several genres of music, we always go to the dance-electro halls, and when we are all a bit drunk we go to the hardstyle tents, just to make fun of those people who make themselves look so ridiculous, the places are usually called 'Black'. It's not my style of music :D

@Sylar, Hardstyle ppl dont make themself ridicilous tahts just your opinon...
imo rappers make themself ridicilous with their "awesome" lyrics... (I mean they say something like "**** you" a few times and YAY they have a new song)

It's very big in the netherlands and italy indeed, so almost always when you hear someone talking about hardstyle he's a dutch or italian guy. When i saw you forum name i knew you were dutch . anyway i really love hardstyle, the melodies are much better than hardcore and the music isnt as agrassive as hardcore either. but i've been out of the seen for almost a year know, dont know why. Probably because i lost my 40 hours of hardstyle livesets and i couldn't be assed to download them again. So if you want to update me on some hot tracks please do so

Hardcore, hardstyle, and similar genres are like an assault on the ears.

I wish I could be less blunt than that, but it's too tough. I dunno if it will ever be popular elsewhere lol.

And the dances people do... It's worse than c-walking.

Fully agree.

And the hardstyle parties etc- the guys i know who do go there always bring XTC and get wasted along with it... guess thats what's needed to enjoy the music a bit :P
I dont like the music, neither do like the drugs-overloaded parties ^^

@ Reise, I can understand that. Most people have that with some genre's. And I know Hardstyle isn't very 'easy' to listen.

@ Sylar, you know those people probably have more fun doing crazy etc then you do watching them. And yes, i've been doing those crazy moves too :D

@ maxietheboss, go to lsdb.nl It's a free liveset database when you can download all kinds of harder dance sets, mostly from festivals and event. I recommand:

Atmozfears & The Vision @ 2Dangerous (Fear FM)
Ran-D @ 2Dangerous (Fear FM)
Josh en Wesz @ Hardhouse Generation
Technoboy @ Sensation Black 2006
Alpha_Twins_-___Defqon.1_Australia_2009
Davide_Sonar_-_DefQon.1_Australia_2009

And MUSTHAVE: Zatox @ Q-Base 2009 and B-front @ Q-Base 2009.

@ LillDev!l, your only half right. I believe 67 people were arrested @ decibel, whom 3 for violence(!) and the rest for having drugs. That ain't bad for 40.000 people. And I know all those Farking drugusing skinheads who come there should **** off but overall there mostly is a very relaxing ambiance because those skinheads are at the terror and hardcore area's and they won't bother you. For example, at lowlands 180 arrests occurred out of 55.000 people. And Decibel had a zero-tolerance policy, EVERYBODY was body-searched at the entrance. But yea, it's just the image people have, they see 1 drugusing skinnhead who listens to hardcore, so everybody must be like that.

Stop guessing, I've never used any drug and I like to get crazy on that hardstyle music.

BTW, Hardcore and hardstyle is not the same peeps... Keep that in mind..
Hardstyle has 100 diffrent boom boom in their songs and hardcore has more like only one kind of boom boom in their song..
If you know what i mean XD i dont think so but ok XD

Ty for explaining ^__^
I dint really dig into it or so- you obiously know more about it then me ;)
I just know from some guys that i know who would go there, and bring drugs.
Zero-tolerance policy is good :P 67 arrests aint to bad either, i guess some people sneaked some stuff in still- but that cant be avoided anyway, same for violence ^^
Its just not my kinda music though.
Im more into hiphop and rap (oldschool rap that is), The parties in "my" genre aint really better so ;)

My bro is making alot of hardstyle "songs" and he calls himself a DJ.
Search for "Dj da blom" on youtube, you'll find it.

And LillDev!l does have a point there. From all of the music festivals in Finland the one which was about hardstyle was most drug filled. I don't remember the exact number but local police confiscated just ridiculous amount of drugs from that festival.
