Are you religious? If so, what religion are you a follower of and why?
Im not religious, mostly because my parents are not. Later on in my life (im 22 years old now) I never really felt the need to follow a religion.
Please keep it clean and respectfull !

I'm not religious
I don't care what religion you are, as long as you are not hardened criminal. Practice terrorism-political-social-religious violence. then it's all good!

Muslim, I follow it because i was raised around it, my parents/siblings/relatives are fairly hardcore faithfuls. I follow the basics for the most part. little to no activity in university's muslim student assocation (community work), though i have quite a few muslim friends, am i a bad follower/believer,? sure, though i'll realize it later on in life, for now, religion isn't my high priority tbh

I was raised under a Roman Catholic household. I kept the Christian traditions until I was 16.
As of now, at 22, I'm an agnostic atheist.

I'm raised as a Muslim and I believe in the Islam.
But since I've moved to the West, i've met a lot of other views on life. As I learned more and more, my believe in the Islam was tested.
I can say I've passed that test, because even now, with all the scientific knowledge I have obtained since I moved to Holland, I still believe in Allah and the Islam.

Now I never understood this. How can you be born a Catholic, or a Christian, or a Hindu, or any other religion? You can be born into a Christian/Catholic/whatever family, but I don't see how you yourself (any human) would be born with a certain religion. Isn't the whole point of religion to believe in a higher being (or 10)?
If you're born Catholic, wouldn't that imply that you are born believing in God as the creator of this universe, the Saviour of our sins, etc? Seems to me this belief would come later in life, maybe as a child, teenager, or adult. So is it the belief in God that makes you a Catholic (or Christian, etc), or is it just because you are in a Catholic family that you are Catholic? Is it automatic until you one day reject God?
For me, I'm Christian, but I'm not too religious. I have the basic beliefs, raised in a Baptist church, but haven't gone in 15+ years.

That's generally what people mean when they say they were born X religion, that they were born into a religious family and raised with the beliefs and customs. In a way you basically are born into the religion, since it's all you know up until whatever age you are exposed to a different view point. I always thought it was kind of implied that that's what it meant.
Anyway, I was raised in a catholic family, though we were never really very religious at all, I think the only reason we went to Church is because my mom teaches at a catholic school
I'm agnostic I guess, I don't believe in any of the Abrahamic religions or their gods, if I were to identify with any belief system it'd probably be Buddhism or Taoism.
And on your other point, Prometheus, about the belief in a higher being, I think what most people (myself included) mean when they say "I'm an atheist, or whatever, but I believe in a higher being/power, is that they don't believe in any of the mainstream religions idea of a higher being.

I really don't follow anything; I've pulled things from a lot of religions, and basically they share A LOT of characteristics.
I guess I'm more along the lines of a humanitarian, existentialistic, Buddhist.
