I've seen this in Venezuela. It's very popular in south america. People buy the lil birds, then they die 6 hours later because of the chemistry used in the products to dye them.
They look cute, the ending is sad.

sorry from long reply they were colored by food coloring, not harmful to the chicks 
the merchant is selling 1 for only 5 PHP and he also said that you must also consume it before 24 hours
