Since the iPhone cannot multitask, can you listen to music and go on the internet at the same time. I'm talking about the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Yes you can listen to music and surf safari at the same time. If you open a youtube video it will stop your music.

I do need internet, my school's library is outdated and my teachers post a lot of things online for assignments and give us specific references we are supposed to use.

If you double hit the square button thing, a small box pops up which lets you control the music. You can open it up anywhere. So you can listen while you read, dawg.
